Having been looking for a new tow rig to move the dogs and trailer/camper around. The three dogs are just too big for the back of our Honda, and my 2dr standard cab 5.3 Silverado isn't the ideal tow vehicle. Since this will only get minimal use and not be a daily, I was looking at 08/09 Escalades because they have the 6.2/6 spd combo, but am hearing a lot of stories about the sunroof leaking and all the electrical luxury items failing in succession over 100k miles.
I stumbled across a 2009 Suburban 2500 LT1 AWD, which being a 3/4 ton is obviously a much more suitable vehicle for towing (especially an enclosed trailer). Does anyone have any thoughts on the 08/09 model year Silverados and Suburbans, especially if its a 2500 or 6.0/6 spd combo? The one I'm looking at has 114k miles on it. They're asking a little over $20k which I think is a bit overpriced, but I'm sure there is some negotiating room. 2 owner, second owner was registered as commercial. Looking at Carfax records for it, I'm guessing it was used as a company car or something to that effect for the second owner, because it had oil changes every 3k miles and the hubs serviced as well. It lived most of its life in Virginia, so I'd have to crawl around underneath and watch for rust.
