I picked up a cast iron pan today at auction along with an aluminum cornbread mold. Seen plenty of those but all cast iron never aluminum.

Any idea what a no 7 griswold in really good shape is worth? Just curious if I got a good deal or got hosed.

I have 2 small marks that were about $65 each.

If you are going to cook with them they are fantastic pans.

Iirc the small mark is the most desirable. I have 2 large marks that were about $65 each.

The pan will be used for sure. The corn bread mold was more a novelty. I have a cast iron one and this one will probably sit on the wall next to it. Was just curious about pricing.

Small block logo.
The Griswold Small Block trademark is not as collectable to many cast iron enthusiasts however they are still fantastic skillets. Griswold drastically reduced the size of the logo and skillets came without a heat ring. Skillets lost much of their character however there are some beautiful skillets around with the small block logo.

Watch out for sellers pricing these skillets at high perices. You can expect to pick up a skillet with the Griswold small block logo at lower price than more collectable skillets.

Not the say small block skillets are not any good. Rather the small block logo is simply not as collectible, so you may pick a good skillet at at bargain prices.

Griswold Manufacturing made the small block in sizes from 3-10.

The Small Block logo were made between 1939-1957.

I have a 10 inch Wagner cast iron skillet and it is much better than any skillet made today. The cast iron is not as thick as Lodge or others and the surface is much smoother. It gets used a lot and is a pleasure to use.

I also have two cornbread stick pans. One is the one shaped like an ear of corn and the other is just straight sticks. It looks like this one.

They area little inconvenient to use but the cornbread sticks are great.

I think thinner and smooth are the key to a good pan. Less weight to deal with and less likely to stick if smooth.

Well I will just assume I got a good deal at $25 for the pan and $10 for the mold.
I paid $20 for one marked exactly like yours 15 years ago.
It's my every day pan.
I've got a 10" 3" deep Griswold for when I have more people over.

You got a great deal at $25. Enjoy that pan.

FWIW, thinner was not better when you cooked over fire. The thin pans are worth more now because so many were ruined over fires. But they do work great on electric and gas stoves. I love my Griswold pans.

Edited my first post, that's what I get for posting from the car and not checking what I actually have before I post.
