There are times I'd like to conceal an AR pistol in my vehicle. I do have a concealed pistol permit.

Has anyone done the dance with LEO with an AR pistol being concealed? It's not likely to change my plans but just wondering.

Likewise any experience with LEO and a Shockwave kind of "arm brace" on a pistol?

Inquiring minds and all.

I have not, but decided against it for myself because I cross into SC often and AFAIK an AR pistol is not legal to conceal under their statutes. Please correct me if I don't have that right.

And to add to the discussion...what about SC?

Their concealed permit policy (found here) includes this definition:

(5) “Concealable weapon” means a firearm having a length of less than twelve inches measured along its greatest dimension that must be carried in a manner that is hidden from public view in normal wear of clothing except when needed for self-defense, defense of others, and the protection of real or personal property.

fwiw, I keep the copy of the ATF determination letter that came with my Shockwave in the pistol grip of my AR. I kinda figure if things start going sideways that that might help to begin straightening things out a bit..

Yep.... I'm familiar with the laws, just wondering at a joe-bag-o-donuts PoPo level how it works out

I'm sitting here wondering how a non concealed AR15 in a vehicle gets viewed on a traffic stop? Seems LEOs are a bit jumpy these days.

This was good timing. I was thinking about traveling to SC with my AR pistol. Did not know the max length of 12".
