So my 9 year son wants to hunt. I want to take him but I don't know any farmers or any people with larger peices of land to inquire about hunting. This year, I want to do Rabbitt and Squirrels just to get him started. Deer hunting will be next year most likely......as well as Coyotes throughout the year as time permits. I would really like to avoid public land during deer season as I would rather us not get shot by somebody shooting at moving bushes. I would like to find and possible join a local hunting club or group that leases private land for hunting. I feel it would be much safer especially during deer season when everybody is out in the woods with a rifle. I'm in northern Davidson County. Let me know if you are in a club or group that may have an opening for a new member. Both my son and I are respectful of peoples property and put safety above everything else.

There’s a wildlife club just outside of Siler City. Not sure of the requirements to join. I believe it is the Chatham county wildlife club.

Can't help much about hunt clubs. NC hunt and fish is good as BB mentioned. Don't let the stigma of public land turn you away from it if you can't find other options. I enjoy my time on the game lands and haven't experienced people shooting at moving bushes. Sometimes it gets crowded, but you aren't too far from Uwharrie or Alcoa. Maybe look at some of the permit hunts as you encounter much lower pressure there. I know you're looking for clubs and all, just figured I'd throw it out there.

How much do you want to spend to join?

How far are you willing to drive?

I grew up in Montgomery Co, so Uwharrie is on the list for squirrels and rabbits after deer season ends. I would be willing to drive an hour or so from home. This is mainly due to my son, his school, and my lack of any form of work schedule. It will be one of those deals as soon as we get some free time, we go then. I have no problem paying a few hundred dollars to join a club. The amount I pay will depend of a few things though. Access to the land (I prefer year round hunting access for coyotes. Etc.), distance and location, etc.
