Any interest in a bug out weekend?

This property is about 50 acres compromised mostly of mature hardwood forest. It is near the end of a dead end paved road. There is plenty of room to park pretty much right next to the woods and then hike right in.

My friend has been discussing and starting to set this campground up for a couple months now. The original idea was aimed at having a quiet place in the woods for people to camp in a simplistic way at a place that will be far enough off the beaten path to feel isolated yet not be so far from civilization that inexperienced campers would be intimidated. Since then we have brainstormed all sorts of associated ideas and survivalist style outings have specifically been discussed. Now CFF has come together with a type of camaraderie that is all too rare in this society and this topic is brought up so I hope we can make it happen with some good people from here.

For the more ambitious hikers, there is a good bit of varied terrain to explore. There are some significant grades, big rock outcrops, and believe it or not some old, probably very old, stacked rock structures that appear to be some sort of centuries old walls. We can only speculate at this point what they are, who these people were, and why the structures are there without excavating the area. Thing is, he wants this land to stay as natural as possible to allow people to enjoy what God and our ancestors have built.

This will be a tread lightly place with the emphasis on using and enjoying it while not destroying the natural beauty.

This sound interesting?

I have seen many stone walls up north typically Farmers when they would plow their fields would take all the rocks and then build them into walls

Guess I needed the sarcasm font!

Interested.

Like others have said - my BOB is really just my GHB in the car, would be neat to see how good it really is, how long it could last me comfortably.

What about 200 acres…..and you have two "groups" that have to avoid each other and not get "caught"….but move around the property and do a "hunt for needed items"? Or something of that nature….

Hell, sounds like real camping to me. I'm game.

so...when y'all want to go? I am not afraid of a deep freeze, but am sure I will learn to...

Probably have more luck with this crowd if you find a park somewhere that everybody can gather, park their vehicles, and hike a couple blocks to a good BBQ joint.

:D

AppKalash had the place. hope he has the time too...
Since the farm I've talked about is more aligned with camping than shooting I don't think we could do any live fire drills. Otherwise anything else that doesn't muck up the raw beauty of the place too much is fair game.

Time is a precious commodity. However I assure you I'm moving forward on my end. More to come...

Y'all could camp at my place. You can park on Smokey Park highway and hike the 8 miles up 151 to my place if you feel like you need a long walk. You could cut trees till your hearts content on my 4.5 acres.

The last hiking trip we did to Wilson creek (or wherever it was up there). We did over 8 miles, a few hundred yellowjacket stings, and 2 nights and a 5 hour drive back and forth on a Fri-Sun trip.

Good times - I used a pack that was about 12 pounds including food and water.

Wilson's creek is the shit, man. One of my favorite places.

As a side note, I am once again late to the party, but I would LOVE to get in on something like this. I did it with some friends a few year back and it was great. That being said, in regards to winter camping... if you're going to test out a BoB, there is some merit to doing it in harsher conditions... thought it can and likely will teach you why we live in houses, in modern days. It's rough going.

I ended up in unexpected 13 degree weather in Graveyard Fields with only a camping hammock once. 2 hours into trying to give it a go, I had to turn the hammock into a bivy, and rake up some leaves for insulation, just to make it through the night unfrostbitten. Luckily, my dog makes a wonderful footwarmer.
