A guy who works for me found a half dozen of these ballistic plates in a box in the home he just bought. They don’t look big enough to be the front or back plates that would go in a plate carrier. Nevertheless, I have zero experience with plates or carriers so I thought I’d ask y’all. They appear to be about a quarter inch thick.

Im pretty sure those are to add rifle protection to soft armor. They go in the outside pocket on the front of the carrier 834B0382-2890-4681-9036-4C2A5E10EC5D.jpeg

What @BassicNate said. I’ve seen these type and smaller 5x7’ish special threat inserts that are lighter and can be stab resistant as well.

Thanks guys! Maybe the home’s previous owner was a sales rep or something for the company. Why else would he have six of them?

I have a question about body armor for a derail.

Has anyone ever tried to stab body armor? I have tried with a Benchmade CQC-7 and all I got was a strained wrist.

Also interested in what a hunting arrow would do but youtube only had vids on arrow vs medieval armor.

There are knife and spike ratings for armor. DBT/First Choice Armor had several versions. The regular ballistic armor did ok as a byproduct of the materials used and stitching, but they wouldn't pass the NIJ specialty ratings.

We tested a crossbow with a broadhead and a plain bolt on one of our IIIA ballistic shields. The broadhead didn't do so well. The bolt punctured the shield pretty well.

a regular compound bow and most all crossbows will penetrate ballistic boards not sure about body armor I'm talking metal ones the ones made of kevlar are good for slowing down arrows/bolts but now keeping them from going thru

I had the opportunity to get hold of some ballistic board when we put a bunch of it up in the federal marshall's detention cells I normal compound bow can go thru 2 layers of ballistic board normally used to stop most any firearm cept for 50 cal and such
