Anybody Interested???

@BatteryOaksBilly I'm going to go by my work on Tue to pick up some machine bases that I have stashed.
They are shaped perfectly for a head & shoulder. They give a nice church bell kind of ring.
It's what we used at the old riverside gun club for the 400 yrd .22 contest.

I think folks will be pleasantly surprised. With witnesses I shot a 2 inch 45 acp handgun at that same 4 foot tall 12 inch wide tank from that same 300 yards and hit it 4 out of 12 times. Once I "found" it, the times I missed weren't by much.
What the Hell, come on over and try it. Shooting doesn't always have to be about "Tactical Maneuvers". It'll be fun and we have @BASIL to thank for it!

When I was but a small child many years ago I started taking pot shots at a lone backhoe bucket about 1/4 mile away with a bolt action .22lr. Didn't take but about 3 shots before i could consistently ping it. Was just like lobbing in a mortar round.

I'm ready to roll. Took out my M&P 15-22 today, with irons I installed last night. Was hitting a pretty small target at 200 yrds consistently. When is this thing going down?

Never scared to show how bad I shoot. Someone always seems to come along and shoot worse to make me feel a little better. ;)
That worse shooter would be moi! lol.
No matter what, it's going to be fun!

Done some short range testing on my Lee Enfields today to pick one or two to bring.
If the Kimber Gov 82 has enough elevation, it may be a good backup.

Checking with Director of the Finance Committee, I’ve discovered our SUV will be in Myrtle Beach that weekend (assuming things get “back to normal” by then). So, I won’t have wheels that would make this a comfortable voyage for three of us. :(
I got some wheels ;). My wife’s Forester is maybe not as large but it will make it and don’t mind driving.

According to some ballistics calculators, with a 1.9 in sight height I need to zero about 7ft from the muzzle to be back on at 300yrds. :D

We have a life-size steel buffalo silhouette on our 300 yard range. It's 6 ft tall and 9 feet wide and I can just make out a black smudge when I'm shooting irons at the thing. I can't see a man sized target *at all* over irons. I envy ya'lls young eyes.

Let's plan for 1st Saturday in June.

I have submitted a travel request to the Admiralty, and intend to come -- rain or shine, sleet or snow, sick or well, alive or dead.

I may even bring SWMBO along for the ride.

I have the gun, sights and ammo to do the job...all I need now is some talent
I have a gun. I have sights. I have enough ammo to do the job several hundred times over. I have no talent. (But then I have no job either, so all is not lost.)

We all do what we can with what we have.

(Maybe I'll even try it with my Ruger MkII offline, just for grins?)

WE ARE ON!!!!! First Saturday in June. Meeting at Annie Nannie's for breakfast at 10 am. We will be shooting at Noon at the Battery Oaks. Have your rifles ready to go! The target will be a full sized B27 at 300 yards. Each shooter will get 5 shots. We will eliminate from there. The winner gets a Battery Oaks Shirt and Hat and a pat on the back.
If you are coming sign in below this post. This should be fun!! Bunk house is open for Friday and Saturday night it sleeps 2. No co-ed sleepers unless they are together. Come on folks, this'll be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I can say "monkeys" can't I?

We are reserving a camping spot at the new Carolina Pines tomorrow for the June event. We haven't been out in the camper since mid last year, and Kelly really wants to check out that place. This is gonna be super fun man, really looking forward to it.

As long as you’re doing it, pistols at 150?

I’m supposed to be fishin in FL that weekend, but I’m gonna try to tweak that trip.
