I just got 5 gals of generator gas and got my side of the garage cleaned out so I could pull my vehicle in. Need some propane and food. Needed nxt weeks groceries anyway.

Nah, pretty standard here in Winston Salem for me.
I dont expect to be without power. If I do, I'll go somewhere else.
I'm good on gas in my car for another 300 miles
Probably another 120 on the bike.
Got a gallon of gas for the mower in the garage (plus it's almost full).
I'll go to the store, like usual, tomorrow for groceries.

Im not concerned.

Doesn't seem to be anything more than some standard t-storms and rain at my place. Maybe
I'll get some more flashlight batteries since I am overdue anyway.

Buying a battery for my parents generator as I type. Since Dad passed if I’m at work, Mom can’t pull the rope. Gonna fox it where I can set it on her porch, hook it up and she can start it with a key and flip some breakers

Since I live kind of sort of in the county and have a well, my big thing is water, without electricity my pump won't run. So we'll have a ton of bottled water. We have plenty of non-perishables and I have a grill with plenty of gas. With these temperatures I'm not terribly concerned about needing heat or air conditioning, but of course we would lose whatever is in the freezers.

We have batteries and flashlights out the wazoo and a billion candles.

Short of getting a generator and crates of MREs I'm not sure what else we can do.

2 tropical storms, 1 tropical depression and 1 "invest" whatever that is. Odds are i think we will get hit by at least 1. Got to get propane Monday in Creedmoor on way back from range for $12. Not paying thieving bastard on the corner $22. Need to test my generator.

I'm going out to start my generator as part of my monthly test run. I still need to fuel up my gas cans (double duty serving the mower). Otherwise, business as usual. Just watching.

Saw chains are sharp, saw fuel and bar oil ready to clear yard or to help neighbors.

Nothing really special ... I might do a PM on the generator and saw but aside from that nothing until things firm up and then basically getting my Mother situated, animals and outdoor stuff secured but that’s if we are in the path and just before the winds and such kick up.

We keep food and water on hand.
We fully intended on buying a generator last year after Irma. Got paralysis of the analysis and never pulled the trigger.

Strange feeling this time around. After the last storm last year, I put a Generac 16KW that will run the most of the house. It is powered by LP gas. I have the gas generator sitting in the garage with 5 empty 6 gallon gas jugs. Last year they were all full. Did just get back from Sam's with 4 cases of water and some misc food. Cars and truck are full of gas. If the storm does come this way I will head to Atlanta but I am not worried about the food in the freezer or refrigerator this time.

Beer, water, gas, propane, cheese popcorn, cashews and medicine. Wife is heading out now to get some tuna for smoking tomorrow and probably a few bottles of wine.

So when you have city water and natural gas those two things don't go out correct?? and Thursday/Friday is the expected landing.

I learned not to discount the storms, Sept. 5, 1996 I thought we will be fine since that storm is 3 hours from Raleigh.
Big mistake, I get to work 3PM at Rex Hospital data center, everyone bugging out, 'its headed right towards you',
my coworker and I looked at each other, we're both from NY Metro area.:(
Hospital generators did not startup like they should have, water leaking inside building, roof damaged.
New procedure to startup generators the day before and leave them running.

My wife lost power 8PM and our daughter turned one year old that day, did not know if they were ok until I got home
2PM the next day. No damage but no power for a week, coworkers had trees in the living rooms.
We're on the end of Duke service so we were last to get restored, no problem, businesses open five miles away.

Have 8KW generator gas, LP or Natural fueled. Two solar panels to charge batteries and a larger one to run
my fiber optic AT&T connection with the router with surplus SLA battery.

Lined all the freezers two deep with water battles all the way around. Dual purpose.
Yep, we also also plus we fill quart freezer bags about 3/4 full and lay flat to freeze for use in coolers and such ... being flat they can be layered and fit easier sometimes. We haven’t put them in yet ... thats a day or two before chore for us.

Now everybody needs to prepare so ... you know when we get already the hurricane, blizzard, etc don’t happen.

I forgot bacon! Hope the wife remembers!

Generators meh I don’t need or want one cost to much to run.

Good here on food will get some water and more fuel fuel chainsaws skid steer is full already.

Got to add liquor store run along with propane Monday. Ive posted this B4 but i owned beach property in Brunswick Co. during Floyd and Fran. The local AHJ illegally forced the liquor stores to close and somehow put all grocery stores and stop-n-robs on notice, under pain of death, to not sell any alcohol until told otherwise. Thankfully i had a full 750ml of Knob Creek to get me thru.

Hmmm, an enterprising feller might could make a dollar were he inclined to distill some spirits

This is no kidding. During the flooding of Mathew in Kinston my buddy's farm flooded. His house is on a hill (Neuse river is <1/2 mile through the woods) and the water came up to his back door with 4-6' in his back yard. We got in canoes and paddled around with shotguns shooting the nests floating in the back fields and those hanging on to any vine they can crawl up. It was satisfying. Not quiet flame thrower satisfying but pretty darn close.

In Floyd I heard a maintenance guy for a cell service (trying to keep the tower generator running) nearly died when he got wrapped up and they stung him so many times wading back to the truck.

Bought some water and small propane bottles, and on Tuesday our local propane store has 20 lbs fill ups for 10 dollars.

Car is gassed up, got water in kitty litter jugs for flushing the toilet, all my other jugs are filled and I bought some gallons of water too. Have canned goods, granola bars, and all my power packs will be charged up so I can keep phone alive to bitch about the power outage to my friends, flashlights have batteries. Have a way to cook. Got plenty of ice packs and gels. Have lots of candles, too. Have plenty of books on several kindles. If the power goes, I hope it's not out for longer than 4 days! That's about my limit so far. After that I get a tad cranky.
(Sort of wish I'd gotten a generator, but it's on the list for later.)
PS Also have lots of no-rinse shampoo/body wash....great stuff in summer outages!

According to The Weather Channel we are all DOOMED and going to DIE HORRIBLY! By the weekend everyone east of the Mississippi will BE DEAD! So, forget the milk and crap. I'm going to invest in Single Malt and float away quietly.

Never forget that bastard. And this one looks like its gonna come in straighter. Some of you are probably too young to remember. Git yer shit together...............
I remember the police wanted everybody to get the heck out of the trailer park, but I had noplace to go, so I taped the curtains to the windows with duct tape, lit the candles and had a beer. Horrible night, with the trailer moving all around!

propane - check
liquor - check
food - check
fueled autos - check

need - paper towels & tp. Costco trip planned for tomorrow.

Not looking forward to a power outage. I was so sick from the heat after Fran, I could not wait for my office to open back up so that I could enjoy some a/c.
