they have a pretty decent schedule and good offerings... was considering some trauma courses....

if not them, I see Siler city listed a lot. I'm a little east of Raleigh - would prefer somewhere relatively close...

Thanks for the feedback! I've been looking through the schedule and am really tempted by the med courses. I can put on a tourniquet and do cpr, but I really need to get more knowledge on emergency medical....

@Me. online/virtual and video-based training is catching on. Pat Mac does it, Shrek McPhee does it (I am 'enrolled' in his membership), it's catching on. It's the economy: people don't want to drive far and shoot 400 rounds in a 2-day class.

@Captainbarred , re: med classes, good job on self-assessment. Start local, too: stop the bleed and a Red Cross or AHA (or other) basic first aid will cover 99% of needs (throw CPR/BLS in there, too). The 'tactical' stuff is cool but usually overkill.

I'll check out the online stuff but really like hands on so instructors can provide feedback on your methods and correct bad habits.

I'm a decent shooter but would like to take more advanced carbine courses.

For medical, I used to get certified on cpr/aed every 2 years, so I'm comfortable with that, but a refresher and updates/changes are always good. The "stop the bleed" stuff is where I'm most interested. Basic stabilization till the pros get there.

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions!

Stop The Bleed is sometimes free and a good place to get that TQ/wound packing "TQ the limbs, pack the junction, seal the box". Short class, too, about 3 hours or so. Here's a current schedule, one in Kenansville.

I have been to 37PSR a few times and every time I have spent moments around Frankie I leave humbled and enriched.

I'm a member at psr37, and see Frankie often, yet I've never taken any courses beyond my CHP. At some point I intend to take the long range course, but obviously I need to look into others.

I've taken several classes there, most of them led by Frankie and I've learned a lot from him. The classes I've taken when Frankie wasn't there were gtg as well.

I've taken mostly shooting courses there but I also did the intro to trauma care and that was fantastic for me with no prior medical classes beyond basic first-aid and cpr. At the end of that class Frankie went through your kit (if you brought it) and helped you get it squared away.

I really enjoyed and learned from the courses I've taken there. Only you can decide if it's worth the money, but if you don't practice what you learn, then you're better off doing something else.
