Anyone else find the RMR window a bit small?

I just picked up a CZ P10C with an RMR type 2 mounted. It’s a nice dot but the window is a bit small when compared to the Swampfox Justice I have on another pistol. Crazy but I kinda prefer the Swampfox to the Trijicon.

RMR has that long lived reputation. Window is .87x.63”

Since you have an RMR footprint, other options would be

Holosun 507c: .91”x.63” (not worth the swap IMO)

SRO: .98x.9”

Swamp fox Justice: 1.06” x.73”

I don’t have any dealings with swampfox to know the durability but I know SROs are solid.

If you’re used to the larger window you could probably sell the RMR and buy another Justice and have $ leftover

Imagine an RMR cc; .74”x.5”. Ouch

I watched the Sage Dynamics review of the Swampfox and he gave it high marks. Not recommend fo “duty” use but civilian carry ok according to him.

How big is a front sight? How much more window do you need? Probably a training and habit issue. Seems lots of people do just fine with the RMR.
I’m just starting out in the RDS world so, yes, I’m sure training would help. I’m sure I could adjust. I just prefer the larger window.

I’ve got a LTT Beretta. Probably about 750 rounds in. Feeling better now. And quicker. Still early based on my research. Just go shoot it. More. That’s what I need to do too. Last outing went much better for me.

Quality over quantity.

RMR is the best imho.

The front sight is always where it is. As I ready any handgun the front sight what I look for. It never moves.

Do that and the dot is there no matter how big window you have. You should not be looking for the dot.

The battery change out on an rmr is not ideal, however I’ve also found out it’s not that big of a deal either.

Remove rmr. Change the battery. Install mounting screws but not completely tight, the optic needs to me able to move but not on its own. Present the irons as you would without optic. Move optic to align with irons. Been doing that every year around my birthday on several handguns for a while. IF there is an adjustment to be made it’s minor and only applicable at distance, say 50 yards or so.

No, the window size is not too small IMO. If you have good fundamentals and get a proper presentation, you shouldn’t have any issue finding the dot. Also if you truly want to use a dot to its full potential, you should be completely target focused, not looking for your sights first to find the dot. You present; eyes on target the whole time; and the dot should be there if you’re doing your part. Anything else just slows you down.

It’s a whole different topic, but I agree with some of the above posts on the RMR not being the best choice anymore.
