On a rifle, for hunting coyotes, hogs, etc.. Any brands you've tried that you would recommend/avoid? What magnification worked best. Power sources, features, any other tips... I appreciate it!

A friend from work has a Pulsar that is pretty nice. It has the faster refresh rate so there isn't any lag in the display. I think his has the 3xx resolution. I was very impressed with that thing.
I have a FLIR handheld. Slower refresh and 3xx resolution too. There is slight lag in the display on it. Go for 50 or 60 hz refresh for a rifle scope.
I looked through one of the Sig offerings. Good image but horrible field of view. I mean it was VERY narrow. A normal persons shoulders would fill up the display at 25 yds. That may work for longer shots but seemed way too narrow for anything even remotely close you you.
I also looked through a lower cost Torrey Pines model. Skip it unless you need something for a shotgun. The display is weird. Extremely tiny and you almost have to shoot it with both eyes open.
The Leupold handheld had a pretty nice display. Not a weapon mount or anything but just wanted to comment on the display. I haven't checked into the stats on this one.

I broke something on my Pulsar apex and called Sellmark the Pulsar importer and they said it typically wouldnt be covered under warranty but that they would replace the product anyway. The only problem was the apex is being fazed out and they would have to send me the new model, the Trail. I absolutely love it!!
