I'd really appreciate some ideas if you wouldn't mind guys. I've been watching a good deal of videos, documentaries, history, firearms and such on Youtube for going on a year. Suddenly Tuesday evening, I couldn't get into the site. Normal procedure, get to the black screen with the Youtube logo and it just sits there, never goes to the next step with the pics of videos to choose from. Checked settings, shut down all power and re-set, deleted the app and reloaded it, nothing helps. All other apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc all still work fine. Spent a couple hours on the net looking for outages, problems, etc. Nothing!

Only idea left is buying a newer Blu-ray to go through. The reason I think of that is that I do remember our old Blu-ray would host Netflix but not Youtube, so we bought a new one and there's never been a problem. But I was wondering that if Youtube updated in some way that meant I could not use the programing in the current Blu-ray, that may be the problem? Kinda like why I have to update computers and Operating Systems at my office when my current programs will not run on an older Windows system.

Any help from the Non Techo-Challenged here? My brain's dead on the matter, at this point. Thanks for any help guys.

Android doesn't support youtube anymore due to some battle they are having about money.

Don't know if that affect your device but something to consider.

Does it work from your computer?

You could buy a cheap Roku or similar streaming device. I believe Roku's can be had as low as $30 or so.

Good point JR, should have been more specific. It works fine on our computer and my tablet. Just the TV is the problem and only with Youtube.

Thanks Jeppo, I didn't know they could be had for that price. Last time I thought of a Roku, it was close to 100.00 but that was before the newest Blu-ray I'm using now.

@Oldguy, where are you? I might even have an extra inexpensive one. I've you're not too far from me, I'll start digging.

It is very likely that the player embedded in your device is no longer supported. Have you checked to see if there is a firmware update for your device?

This happens to my TV every so often as well. There is a complete reset in the menu somewhere that restores the TV back to factory settings. When I open Youtube back up you have to completely login again to that and to Netflix and Amazon.
What brand TV do you have?

Good luck but its just a matter of time before all gun content is gone from Utoob. I refuse to have anything to do with them or their commie loving pals over at FB.

If I'm understanding you guys correctly, I'm assuming "Ferrisfan" you're referring to a possible update to the Blu-ray player itself. I suppose I've assumed that it should be updated automatically when it's turned on, but then again it may not be. I'll check.

It's a Samsung "Load My Own". I've always been a little nervous about "resetting things back to factory" but given that I've not changed anything myself other than entering a password to Netflix or Amazon, which I can do again, how the hell could it hurt? And I'd not given it much thought to the problem possibly being the TV as opposed to the Blu-Ray.

I'll check on both when home tonight. Thank you guys.

Yep, I feel your pain. Things start disappearing from Ytube when I start getting more into repairs and replacements myself, all of which were easily found online. PC culture is the way of the future and will end up destroying much, if not all, of our culture. Stupid people have to stupid just as Marxism's gotta marxist. I dumped FB a week after the daughter signed me up years ago.

Thank you anyway Jeppo, but we're a couple hours away...I'm Cleveland County.
If you can't make the BluRay player work, you can certainly find a cheap Roku at Wally World or Target.

It should, but since you did not specify a manufacturer or a year of purchase the possibility remains.

Just want to thank you guys for jumping in to help fix my Ytube problem. Had no luck in updating and couldn't find any place to take the TV back to factory settings but you all got me to thinking of other options. I had an old Amazon fire stick that hasn't been used in over a year. Plugged it back into the TV and my problem was solved. I think @Ferrisfan and @Jeppo, you guys ended up being right and the Blu-Ray wasn't supporting Ytube any longer. But regardless, I do appreciate all you guys providing your ideas to help a technologically illiterate forum member. Many thanks and have a good weekend.
