They were made by Amendment Arms in Arden, NC. Came out in 2013, but apparently Amendment Arms went the way of the dodo in 2016. If the serial number of mine is to be believed, at least 160ish rifles were made before they went under.

It is an AR/AK hybrid. Interesting design. I wound up with one in a trade for some ammo from a dealer I know in Asheville. He sold a few of them and the one I got was his last one - his demo gun.

Just curious if anyone here has any experience with them. Haven't been able to get it to the range yet, but it seems to be well made by examining it at the house.

Never shot one, but was curious about them when they were supposed to be the hot new thing for a brief second. Let us know how it runs, I for one am very curious.

Is it similar to the PSA Ar-15 that takes AK mags? Tagged for interest.

No, it is more like an AK that takes AR mags, and has an adjustable gas system like an FAL. I wound up returning the gun. It was unreliable and even doubled a couple times (not like a slam fire, but a bump fire due to the trigger not resetting properly). I thought it was a really cool concept, but evidently there is a good bit of variation of quality in what few examples are out there. I won't be buying another one unless I get it super cheap.

Just like so many of the other interesting small company hybrids, a disappointment.

In what way?

They never seem to be reliable. This one, the Robinson XCR and at least one more that I can't remember the name of.

Attempts to bring the best from both platforms or start over using lessons learmed, but they either don't run, stay as vaporware or the company goes bust.

It looks like a good concept with bad execution. After reading about it apparently the dust cover with its integral rail was mounted on delrin plastic, which does not seem conducive for long term accuracy.

Later ones had a secondary locking system, as well as the delrin. Mine was one of the later ones with a locking screw.

Even the CMMG Mutant had significant problems at launch, I'm fairly certain the only reason the mutant is still around is because it was not the only product CMMG was offering.

Most likely. A company with a solid raft of products can float a pet project like that. A one man band with one flawed product tends to vanish like a fart in the wind.
