Ok, so I have a Garand that I'm just about ready to start reloading for, and two or three boxes 175gr Matchkings. So the thought came to me that, since I have said resource, it would be interesting to look into trying to replicate the load the Garand was initially designed to use.

So anyone have a good lead on where to find such data? i.e. a load using currently available powder, for a 175gr BTHP at a MV of 2,600fps, and a Garand safe pressure curve?

the "garand safe" data I have been able to find so far, has a gap where it jumps from 168gr loads to 180gr and the 178/180 data maxes out at 2500fps.

Note: I also plan to work up an M2 ball equivalent, but have found multiple data sources for that.

As always TIA for any info and advice you can give.

.30 M1 ball was a 174gr FMJ bullet moving at 2650 fps. You should be able to come close to that with a Sierra 175gr MK, 46.0-46.5gr IMR 4895, Win LR primer, 3.3" OAL. That's an old service rifle competition 600yd load.

Go over to the CMP forum. There’s a reloading section that specializes in .06 for the garand.

Many of those guys are loading 150gr bullets.
