i have a new muzzle brake on the way. its stainless and my barrel is black. anyone rattle can painted a stainless part? any advice for type of paint or part prep?

i know having it coated would be best but I am looking for a quick cheap fix to keep it from being so shiny

I did that on a stainless steel device....

Roughed, prepped, sprayed...

All apint was blown right off:rolleyes:

BUT. If you shoot it enough. The powder residue takes the place of the paint.

So, yeah, I can tell paint vs residue with a close look.

But from a couple benches away:D.

Of course, truth be told. I'm decidedly more of a performance over looks guy. I even enjoy when I use my "turd looking but under moa" stuff to hurt feelings:D

I bought some high temp paint at walmaft and used it on a stainless barrel with decent results. Sprayed it and left it out to bake in the sun. Seemed to hold up well.

Happen to have any Aluminum Black? If not, I have some you can try. Word is it works on stainless steel as good, if not better than, on aluminum.
