Hands down top three show I have seen (AC/DC Ballbreaker tour 95 and George Jones are the other two). It has been a few years since I saw him last but have been a fan since he was in DBT. He has really grown as a songwriter and performer. The guitar playing was flawless as allways.

He’s my favorite singer song writer but I just can’t fork out the amount of money it cost to see him. Its odd to me how an artist who gets no radio play charges $150 a ticket, and that’s on the low side.

The tickets were a Christmas present from my wife. I think she was able to get the tickets for $85 which still blew my mind. When I started seeing him I think the average ticket cost was like $25. Cover Me Up was the song we danced to at our wedding and her hearing it live for the first time was awesome. I think the tickets are so high because he plays places like DPAC where any show is sky high. Both shows sold out btw. James McMurtry opened which was a bonus.

I went to see Popa Chubby at the Blue Note in Durham a few weeks ago. $15 plus you get a table and waiter/waitress service. With a full barbecue restaurant menu and drinks. I highly recommend it. Great small venue and they host some good blues musicians. But it is probably too small for Isbell and some bands.

I’ll check it out to see who’s coming there. Blind Tiger in Greensboro host some decent stuff every now and then. The Dead South played there a few months back and it was awesome.

ISbell must be on how way to becoming a billionaire. I’ve looked at his tickets a few times as he’s one of my favorite singer/songwriters, he’s played DPAC and at arts museum, dpac was $150, the arts was $400. Just can’t bring myself to do it. But hopefully he makes whatever Forbes list he wants to be on and then maybe he can open himself up to some other venues.
