AR lower that takes Scorpion/AK-V mags

Variety is the spice of life?

Maybe you don’t like the way Glock mags look in an AR (I don’t). Or you don’t like the look of a mag block for a colt mag.

But you’d like another firearm to shoot 9mm out of, love the AR platform, and have a nice supply of Scorpion mags...then you build an AR with this lower. :p

I'd like one. Of course I'd also like a NFA or QC10 set that takes the MP5 mags since I have a few of those now too. So much want, so little time and money.

It makes sense, because not everyone has a Glock, some prefer the AR platform and PSA makes good mags for the AK-V already. Oh and it's probably easy as hell if you own your own in-house CNC R&D dept.

One thing PSA is all about, and that's make as much stuff to go with their other stuff as possible, or buying that stuff cheap and selling it off quickly and at a decent price.

@willpgn let me shoot that AK-V enough to know that they will also go back and fix whatever growing pains they experience and make it a better product. My PA10 gen 2 is also proof of that.

Proprietary lower, upper, BCG...which won’t be sold separately at least in the beginning. Release looking like 3Q20-4Q20.

vaporware. I kinda got that feeling. Better to just buy a Scorpion lol
The upper and bolt is what surprised me.

I guess I over simplified it in my mind. Just take a standard AR lower and modify it so that the top round in the mag sits where it would for a Colt mag. Everything else works the same. Oh well.

Same here. Don't German-car-ify it. Especially with the Stribog and other PCCs out there getting snapped up.

for $850-ish, I still want one of these

Funny I never saw this initial post but this is the first time I’m actually considering a 9mm AR.
I’ll probably hold off and save my pennies for the MP5 and JAKL but still tempting as a Scorpion owner with an bunch of mags.

No LRBHO with MP5 mags. Mine is the folding receiver NFA lower. I originally had it set up with the side charging upper but it the stock wouldnt fold all the way. Better now.

Updates in this video:

I watched part of it and here’s a short version:
1. You can watch the first 7:30 and get most of what you want
2. Just after the 19 minute mark they finally say an aggressive schedule is two months from now
3. From the trigger group back, the lower is AR-like...same buffer tube, grip and FCG
4. Magwell is wider, feed ramp and LRBHO installed already, and mag release is forward of the trigger
5. Upper has standard threads for barrel nut so all handguards should work, but it’s wider in the rear to match the wider lower
6. Will be referred to as the AR-V

I stopped after the date, as I think they were going to transition to a JAKL discussion...

Stop enabling. Saw this earlier today. I don't need another 9mm Carbine/pistol.

Ive got a friend who ordered an "in stock" colt mag lower two months ago. Thats right . He still hasnt got it yet.

In stock at the moment

Where's just the lower? And will it run with any upper combo? This would be sweet with the CMMG RDB upper combo if it functioned and had LRBHO.

Also, where's the mag release on these things? Is it paddle and just hard to discern in the photos?
Edit: hit the super zoom on the PSA photos and it is a paddle style.

I think they'll need a special cut bolt for the mags .

CMMG RDB's really dont like to run on anything but Glock mags and they have to be just the right depth which is lower than standard. . Theres an endomag workaround for standard lowers .
