AR Rifle pic thread

Here's my current lineup.
Newest: PWS Mk1 Mod2. Haven't even shot it yet. Current sporting an Aimpoint CompM but it's going to get either a really nice 1-4 or 1-6 (Trijicon, Kahles)

My first rifle. BCM BFH 16" Middy Upper with CompM3. Swapped the rail to a 556Tactical Samson Evo. Larue MBT2S trigger in a Delton lower. Got a PWS buffer tube system coming. B5 bravo stock on it, not a fan, wobbles more than I'd like. May try another Magpul Moe SL. I've had several ones on it (ACS, MFT Battlelink Minimalist, etc)

KISS rifle. Pictures don't show it well, but it's all Foliage Green. PSA 16" Premium pencil upper, BCM BCG, Aimpoint R-1, Delton lower, ACT ALG trigger to be installed

And a fun toy that I'm still dialing in. Anderson upper and lower, Odin works 7.5" .223 Wylde barrel, KAK muzzle device, PSA BCG, FAB Defense BUIS, Shockwave blade and tube

Can you give out the build details? Why the "original" upper? What optic is that?

That's a Trijicon Reflex RX06. I had one a few years ago that had a 12.9 MOA Amber triangle

I was curious as to why you went with the A2 upper and red dot mount as opposed to a flat top. Did you just have that upper and want to use it on a project?

Lighter..

A A2 upper weights less then a A3-A4 after adding all the crap.

A A1 is best for weight savings.

Plus I like the carrying handle, easy to grab under my truck seat.

Because he was around when carry handle M16s were invented & @JBoyette is sentimental like that. :D

When I got to 2nd plt Cco 1/325 AIR I was issued a M16A2. 1 year later we all got M4's. I was in Egypt and the supply guy brought us AimPoints (M68) and we all installed them on top of the carry handles of the M4's

Later that year we got Knights 0-300m buis and the first rail system. This was late 1998. And we were cool as hell now!

So let me get this straight.... in olden times, m16 rifles had this handle thingy and no rails???? I think i remember dad babbling some such nonsense once, i never really beleived it until now.

I think they were made of wood and antelope horn.

My dad shakes his head about the "new" gear. Highly opposed to adding weight and snags.

My longish range build with help from @JBoyette :). 20" heavy ss ballistic advantage barrel 1/8 twist, Anderson lower, JMT 3.5lb trigger, PSA full auto BCG, heavy buffer, Magpul fixed carbine stock and grip, UTG pro 13" handguard ( @NKD for the help with it) and a Aero precision scope mount. Scope still to be determined..... hope to get to shoot her soon!!!

Sorry for the crappy picture...

IMG_0170.JPG Of my 4 AR's, this is my favorite. It was built by me with an ARP 16" 5R 6.8 SPC melonite treated barrel, Aero upper, DD bolt/carrier, Troy free float tube, JAL linear brake, PSA "Iraq"commemorative lower, RRA NM trigger, Minimalist stock, Redfield Revolution 4-12x40 scope, and Nikon P series mounts.

it's my main deer rifle, and shoots well below 1" with my handloads. I may have to build another, bacause my 11 year old daughter (with her first buck in my avatar) has taken a liking to this one.

Looks great, is there a place in town that you buy your parts or do you get everything online? Most of my parts I get off line but every so often I'll pick something up from Shooters supply, went to Jims yesterday and waited for 10 minutes to get a rep to talk to me and then they didn't have a BCG in stock.

Thanks! John, at Shooters, taught me how to build AR's many years ago, and I still buy powder there. I buy my barrels from ARperformance, they are extremely accurate, and most cost less than $200. I've also got ARP barrels in 223 Wylde, and 7.62x39, and they are very accurate. Most of my other parts are bought online from PSA or other places. I've found great prices for parts on forums for sale sections. I don't mind lightly used parts, as the old saying goes: One mans trash is another mans treasure!

Harrison makes great stuff. I'd have used one of his barrels for my 6.8, but I ended up going with a Bison BSP and cut it down to 12". It would be my go-to hunting rifle (with a YHM ULT) if I actually hunted. :D

Bison makes good stuff too. I've owned a Bison barrel, and Ben's a good guy.

Barnes Precision Machine I bought about a year ago. I had issues with it zerong to any degree of accuracy. I tried different bullet weights, etc but it wouldn't hold a group at 50 to save itself. After eliminating other variables I was satisfied that it was the rifle. I contacted BPM and drove down to Apex and dropped it off.

About a week later I went back and picked it up. The owner, Andrew Barnes, met me in the foyer with the rifle and two targets. It was definitely the barrel and Barnes replaced it. We talked for about 20 more minutes and I left hoping that the issues were fixed. I did not, however, check the rifle before leaving Apex and drove back home. Once I got home and prepared to add my accessories back to the rifle I found that not only had BPM replaced the barrel but they had upgraded my rail...for free! I called BPM back and, as luck would have it, Andrew Barnes answered the phone. I told him that I apprciated the upgrade but I wanted to pay for it. He told me that it was on him and to contact him again if I had any further issues. To say that I was beyond happy is an understatement.

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to re-zero the rifle's BUIS and PRO. It now shoots 1/4-1/2 inch groups with XM193 and even tighter with 62 grain Gold Dots. I had the time so I shot steel out to 300 yards with this rifle.

I've now shot several hundred rounds through the rifle. Other than the barrel being replaced I haven't had any issues. If you're looking for an AR patterend rifle you can not go wrong with Barnes Precision Machine and his offerings. I've dealt with firearms manufacturers for several years and their customer service is unsurpassed.
