Want to lighten up the pull/break on a could mil-spec triggers. I have polished the surfaces but have not been able to get the break where I want it. I have seen videos where people have cut one of the legs on the hammer spring. Has anybody done that? Also, what spring kit are you using when you replace the mil-spec springs?

I am looking for a 3 to 4 lbs break.

Don't cut your springs. ALG and JP Enterprises make reduced power springs that are good quality.

Beware, by changing to a low power spring you will get low power strikes which may not go boom every now and then on hard primer ammo.

Description: ALG Defense Purple Hammer Spring, can be installed onto your ACT hammer to provide an approximate pull weight of 4.5 lbs. This spring is perfect for those who are using their rifles for recreational purposes and target shooting. When shooting the ACT with the purple hammer spring and firing military grade ammo or ammo with harder primers, light strikes may occur. If there are light strikes, it is recommended the user switch to the tan hammer spring. The Tan Hammer Spring will give you a pull weight of 6.0 lbs., which meets the minimum required pull weight of 5.5 lbs. in the M4 Carbine specifications.

I took a look at the JP springs before the original and was wondering about the reliability of the primer strikes at 3.5 pounds. I only use CCI and Winchester primers. Also took a look at the Wofle springs. I have a couple ALG triggers in some guns and never had an issue. I have a couple trigger sets on hand and was going to use them.
Think that I will order the JP springs if nobody has had problems with those primers.

I’d test a lot of ammo with those springs before I felt comfortable using the rifle for anything other than range use

Can’t remember the brand but I got some 3.5lb springs from joe bob outfitters and I was having light strikes on factory lake city and on CCI #41 primers

I know I had light strikes on Federal American eagle ammo with the ALG springs. I decided to get a larue MBT after that to lighten the pull but have plenty of punch. Not much more than the ALG trigger.

I use Geissele "enhanced rapid fire" triggers sold only far as I know thru Brownells. Comes with 2 springs. One is super light and I pretty much use WSR primers in all my handloads with no problem. I've shot plenty of LC factory ammo as well with no primer strike problems. Might want to check with Geissele if they sell that spring separately. That trigger has a super short reset and is all I use on my M4orgerys.
