I really want to do an arnours course for the AR15. I can and have built many top to bottom, but I want the certification and to learn how to pin gas blocks, learn the best tools for the application, etc. Any ideas?

I'm not interested in some backwoods half assed class. I want legit. Thanks folks!

I have zero to offer here other than I've thought about you several times as I look at all the lowers I have that need to be completed.

Montgomery CC in Troy or the CC in Roxboro is where I'd look

I graduated from Troy's Gunsmithing course in '83 and a few yrs later, 2 of my 3 instructors left and started the school in Roxboro (better school then)

MCC used to offer weekend Armorer Courses in a few different firearms...not sure bout black rifles, but as popular as they are, probably. Not sure if Roxboro offered Armorer Courses.

41mag, do you remember Gary Miller and "dog"?

Yeah I thought about the community colleges but I was hoping for a more industry certified course. I found out Daniel Defense holds a 2 day course at their place in Georgia. It's under $400, I'd just have to plan a field trip. Then you are DD certified for 3 years.

DD certification is probably about as much practical use as Microsoft certification when you're trying to get a job in Linux. You're probably better off with a general gunsmithing degree from Montgomery CC. It's the best gunsmithing school around these parts. Ain't nothing special about any techniques used in building an AR. Specialized tools yes.

Yeah I don't want a gunsmithing degree. Ive got a bachelor's and Masters from UNC, I'm done with formal school. I want a nice 1 or 2 day course that goes over the AR platform top to bottom with a focus on initial build, tolerances and specs, then troubleshooting and repair, and finally rebuilding.
