I've been bitten by the bug to build an AR pistol; my build of choice is going to be a 308 pistol. It's been mentioned today in another thread, picked the worst time possible short of full-on apocalypse, I know.
So my question is this- what parts are interchangeable between to the two? I know most AR10 parts do not fit AR15 stuff and vice-versa, but from what I've been reading/researching, seems there may be a few...
LPKs- type specific, I imagine? Same with BCG, upper, lower, barrel, charging handle...
What about buffer tubes, braces, handguards?

You can generally interchange LPKs, pistol grips, stocks. Generally the buffer tube is either longer or the spring is shorter because the BCG on a .308 is much longer.

Then there's the issue of weight. Take your average AR15 and add 3 or 4 pounds.

Hmmm, forgot about the weight thing.
I forgot to mention, part of my decision regarding caliber is based on not wanting to add a new one to my current stock.
Maybe I should consider a 45 AR pistol instead- or 7.62x39...

Look into the Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF) Revolution.
It is an AR10 in 308, but built with only AR15 components.
The only difference is the mag well which is larger to accommodate the 308 round.
It is now available in DI or the original piston

YMMV. My AR-15 (sold) weighed 6lb 10oz. My AR-10 weighs 7lb 11oz. My point being that you can get a light AR10. (Truth in advertising: my first AR-10 weighed 13 lbs scoped, but was built for distance shooting.)

Really want one of these. Super handy.

They should be really light and handy, because it costs as much as a SCAR-17S

Had no idea. I would never own a scar.

Cant believe someone would pay that much for one.

Yeah, I looked at their website. A little bit rich for my blood.
yep. I could lighten up my PA-10 by changing out the barrel from heavy 18" to a pencil 16", ditching the rifle stock setup, and choosing a lighter optic. I just accept it for the 10lb pig of a rifle (unloaded) that it is and use it accordingly.

Soooo, I've been collecting some pieces. I currently have (no particular order, lol)-
Warhogg P80 lower(still need to mill it, have a vise on order for my drill press)
AR Stoner upper and LPK (actually have 2 LPKs, for reasons)
Kak brace/handguards
Bushmaster BCG, 3.7oz buffer and aluminum charging handle
2 mags (C-Products)
Currently on order from Damage Ind-
pistol gas tube and carbine gas tube
Front site kit
couple of castle nuts and a barrel nut

from what I can tell, I still need -
buffer spring
barrel
gas block

sights I haven't completely decided on- I did pick up a Bushnell TRS-25, might get some irons instead

What other bits might I be missing?
Where is the best place to look for a reasonably priced barrel, if they can still be had?

ETA- found a barrel, quite reasonable compared to some others still in stock.
And realized I need an endplate too, so added that to my wishlist at Primary Arms...
