I have never own one before much less ever try to build one wonder if I have messed something up on building the lower im guessing same way you would build a Ar15. Everything is brand new trigger works bolt catch is not catching I have come to figure out the charging handle I have fit correctly and have been told the rubbing I am hearing is from it being brand new. The problem is the bolt catch it not catching to keep the bolt back. So I need to know what stupid thing I could have possibly done or adjust to make this work correctly.

Hey man did you mean to post this in transportation needs?

Did you forget the spring and or nipple piece that goes in before the bolt catch?

Does it work manually and just not on an empty mag? Or does it not work at all?

With a mag in and out but from what someone told me I may have got screwed on my buffer tube and some one switch it with ar15 tube

Ok think I found out whats wrong with it. The bolt catch spring is to big which is not allowing it to operate correctly, so I will be buying a new lower parts kit tomorrow and the problem shot be fixed

The ar10 bolt needs either the longer buffer tube or the shorter ar10 buffer. Most likely what the issue is… ask me how I know 🤦‍♂️
You may be right I think I have the shorter one I guess not sure only have 2 to choose from and they are both the same length so I guess I will be shopping for a long one and see if I had to guess I would need a spring as well if it is the longer one I need.

Doesn't work at all just free slides

The buffer tube needs to be the correct length for an AR-10 style rifle and should be longer than an AR-15 style buffer tube. But you are describing or at least I am understanding two separate issues.

Can you better describe “free slides”? What I’m getting at, does it move freely but is under spring tension. For example, with the receivers separated, when you move the bolt catch/release with your hand, when you let go does it go back on its own. Or does it move freely and stays in the last position that you moved it to?

Its under tension when im pulling the charging handle back and when I have it pulled all the way back I am trying to push the bolt catch release button to lock the bolt back and it won't allow the bolt catch to catch. And the bottom feels like it is not coming out far enough and is riding the bolt the whole time I am trying to get it to lock back almost like the bolt is not coming far enough back and part of it is still in the way preventing it from locking back if that makes sense

I would start with the buffer tube. Sounds like the BCG isn’t moving back far enough. Keep us updated on your progress. It’s good to understand the issues people encounter.

Ya once you brought up buffer tube I just got off the phone with the armor at the store I bought it at and he thinks it either the spring is to heavy or I need a longer buffer tube so im going to go shop for that. You and him came up with the same possibility of whats wrong so im going on that of it isn't then I have another part to build another one one day haha

Ok problem is fixed it was the buffer weight the one that came in the ar10 box is for a ar15 not sure how that slipped my mind or thought process. Someone took the weight and spring out the box and swapped it with ar15 stuff which is why it would not work bc in my mind it came out of ar10 box so it is suppose to work lmao. Oh well now I can finish the rest of the job and hopefully have a running platform here soon 🙂
