Armed suspect dies after being shot by CMPD officer in north Charlotte

It’s hard to know what command to give when you know there is a gun but can’t really see it or the hand.

But, we don’t need a new set of rules around what commands to give, under stress it’s something else the officer will need to remember, and ultimately get fired and sued if they use the wrong words.

Cops aren’t killing too many good guys IMHO, so carry on.

I doubt many, if any, on here are the sort that would go around doing what that guy did.

However, just about everyone on here owns and frequently carries guns. Therefore, an interaction with a nervous Nelly, or a Daniel Harless is a possibility. That should be a concern of everyone here. Times are changing and record numbers of people are rightfully arming themselves, and I suspect a lot of cop training is still rooted in the era of them being the only armed "good" guys.

While everyone hopes they are able to remain calm and try to communicate reasonably, it is going to be difficult when you have a jacked up people pointing guns at and screaming at you that perceive you as a threat.

The proof is in the pudding. If a bunch of law abiding folks who just happened to have elected to exercise their 2a rights were getting shot then I’d say it’s time to do something different. That this isn’t happening leads me to conclude that law enforcement has already done something about it or the folks that carry can indeed follow reasonable commands when confronted by an officer with a drawn weapon.

The question is: Where the riots at?

So far Charlotte has coddled all comers and checked all boxes for BLM and the like.

Let's count down the ways since the Keith Scott shooting:

Black Female Democrat Mayor: Check
Black Chief LEO: check
All Democrat City Council: Check
Progressive Activists on City Council: Check

The only thing left is just to ban White people from owning property, or running a Krystallnacht type operation and clear out the Caucasians from all business and political positions of power.

Worked wonders in Rhodesia.

Can we get past the was the gun in his pocket question?

The cops obviously saw the gun because who gives orders to drop the gun that they know you aren't holding?

Also have you ever pulled something out of your pocket while in a crouch?, can't be done without a bunch of contorting in which there was none.

look at the video in post #34 at the 1:53 point. looks like the gun was in his right-hand jacket pocket.

If your gun is in your pocket and a cop tells you to drop it, are you going to reach in and pull it out to drop it? I'm not. I'm going to show them my empty hands and freeze. Of course, I'm not going to be threatening people in the BK with a gun in the first place.
