Kinda a spin off from the Armslist abomination thread, but here lately, there seems a to be some deals that are too good to be true. Beyond the numerous overpriced ARs, there appears an add with a reasonable deal on an otherwise ordinary firearm, then 10 post away is someone looking for an identical firearm. If Id seen it once or twice, I'd not even give it any thought, but it seems to happen pretty regular. IE: looking for 1911 or what ever, then 10 post over, someone is selling exactly what the add is looking for, I mean right down to details. Some of these adds stay on line for a while, on firearms that should have sold quickly. Recently looked at a SIG229 listed for $600, pretty good deal, especially if its West German dated. Gun has wood grips. Add says new in box, only had 5 rounds shot thru it, gun in the picture is clearly pretty used. I sent a message inquiring about the grips and manufacturing. Got no response, add is still up. BATFE doing some fishing maybe?

Send them a message asking if it is ok if your parole officer buys it for you, and if so, you will take it.

I would have to go back and find it. But I was on there last night and found a 308 ar with scope and some ammo for 400$. Still not gotten a reply back lol

I've noticed two different adds with a 80 percent lower glock pistol, essentially the same gun, different wording and pictures. I flagged both adds. This morning, I noticed an add looking for glock lowers. BATFE must be really bored to be fishing this hard. That sig is still there.

Armslist has always been a crap shoot. I had a Glock for sale on there a couple years ago for $450. A woman messaged me saying she wanted to buy it for her husband as a surprise. I asked if she had a permit, she said no but her husband was LEO. I told her to bring him to meet me and then surprise him with the money to buy it himself. She Kept saying no she wanted it to be a surprise. Eventually she offered me 1000$ to do the deal with her no permit having ass. I politely declined and said if she changed her mind, she could bring her LEO husband to buy the gun. Never heard back. I strongly suspected she was ATF looking for a sucker.

You should have agreed to the price and set a meet and when she got there, tell her no PPP is OK, she can just show her exemption badge instead and she's good.

Her sting would go unstung but you'd be doing your civic duty by wasting a half day of hers.

I spent the better part of the next week thinking of ways that i should have handled it. It really bothered me to think they were trying that hard to get me to break the law. I bet she messaged me 10 times over 2 days just trying to get me to bite... I knew she was crazy when she offered 1000 for my 450 gun...I told her to get a purchase permit and come back with the 1000 and that id hold it for her. Thats when her responses stopped

I’ve never used ArmsList. Had a Member here send me a link to an ad for something I’ve been looking for late last week, so I signed up.

Location was listed as here in Charlotte. The seller never responded. Not sure if they were avoiding a brand new account or something else. Probably ought to send a follow-up...after checking to see if the listing is still active.

I used it once when I was in Illinois. I had been shopping for something specific and just lucked into a posting about an hour after the seller put it up. Item was worth $200 more when new before taxes and transfer fees. By finding this guy who was clearing out his safe because of a divorce I got a previously owned, but never fired, item that was exactly what I wanted. I texted him. He sent proof of life. I sent copy of CCL. We met after the retarded 3 day wait Illinois is supposed to have. He pulls up in the exact same car in the same color as mine. I met my doppelganger. Same hair, same eye color, wearing same color clothes and a pair of Merrell shoes like me. We BSed a bit. He had the same taste in guns too, but he was far further along buying every last one of them he ever wanted before his divorce forced the fire sale. Cool dude.

I've had good and bad deals on there.

Worst one was a guy who contacted me about a pistol I had listed. We were two hours apart and we agreed to meet in the middle. Guy had a CCW, yadda yadda yadda, no red flags.

When I get there I open up my trunk and ask for his CCW. He hands me this unlaminated card and I was like "Huh, they don't laminate these things in your county?".
Then I looked closer and the expiration date was hard to make out. Looked like it had been written in with pen, which it had. I took my car key and scratched off the white out he had applied over it.
He just gave me a blank dopey stare, I handed it back to him, closed my trunk and he left.
I called the local police because the guy had given me a photocopy of his ID and CCW (he hoped that would be good enough and I wouldn't want to see the actual card), and they were just like "so what?".

The last Forsyth county CCW I got wasn't laminated, but its always good to be vigilant

Mine was just paper and they specifically said I should laminate it. I got it a few years ago. Maybe they have changed it.

I thought it was really stupid to go thru so much just for a piece of paper.

Report her to BATF.

I should have, it's been so long ago now i couldn't find her if i tried. I hate the thought that some decent guy somewhere trying to get a little cash together could be getting offered double for a gun by a "cops wife" and is wondering if he should do it.

When i got my first ccw in Durham they told me specifically not to laminate the permit or it would void it out....i did it anyway, didn't bother a soul. Just renewed in alamance and they gave me paper and said you better laminate this thing, ups store and 2 bucks and some change later and im good for another 5yrs. The next day they halted all permits..i got lucky

1. my last two North Carolina Concealed Handgun Permits (CHP) were laminated. i learned from the first one.
2. although i've bought/bartered/traded guns and other things on ARMSLIST, i have never sold a gun outright.
3. so far, ARMSLIST has been good...almost as good as eBay used to be.

Sent a second email yesterday. No reply. Guess it’s not meant to be. :(

Durham will laminate for a cost. They did mine free because they messed up my zip code and made me come back.
