Army may rename posts named for Confederate officers

when will they ban the NO Saints emblem the Fleur-de-lis It was what was Branded into runaway slaves
 
I get why these bases were originally (probably had a different name prior actually) given confed names, but I don't hate the idea of renaming them now. Ballparks get renamed all the time for somebody currently relevant. Roy Williams court (just the actual court in the Dean Dome), for a local, recent example.

Most of these specific bases were named after confed generals who were supporting the reconstruction and reconciliation by the US, which we know didn't win these revered generals any popularity contests with southerners at the time. There's no shortage of contemporary writings about Lee in this regard.

It seems a small thing to do, and I can see where it would be bothersome to a patriotic af African American soldier stationed there.

I brought up this exact point yesterday among some like minded folks.

All new signs, all new literature, repaint the buildings, new uniforms/patches, vehicle lettering/graphics for GSA vehicles. Not only to the feds, think about all those state road signs and other DOT related things that would have to be remade.

Its absolutely insane to even consider when you look at the logistics involved in doing so.

Glad to see POTUS coming out against it.
 
My biggest hangup honestly, aside from just being against anything social justice warriors want to do is the fact that

Williams Air Force Base
Pope Air Force Base
Fort Bragg
Elmendorf Air Force Base
Fort Richardson.
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base

It’s Where I grew up, It’s like renaming your hometown for no good reason. But as I get older I find myself becoming extremely sentimental and nostalgic blah blah blah.

They will all be renamed, all the “racist” statues will be taken down, There will be a BLM street in every city just like MLK and on and on. But you know what will never change? Some people’s victim hood and our perceived white privileged.
 
I recommend Ft. Bragg renamed Ft. George Floyd based on his good deeds in life.
Ft. Benning maybe Ft. Al Sharpton.
Ft. Hood is an easy one. Ft. Pelosi.

All should be gun totally gun free including artillery and MP personnel.
