They just go together so well....:)

I like the idea of ceracoating, especially if I ever decide to take one of my AR's in new direction with unusual colors. But for now, I think I'll stick with rattle can paint jobs.

Right now, my big issue is deciding if I should rattle can my AR10 or leave it black.

Alright! Another chance for me to post a pic of my cerakoted AR :D

And a shoutout to @11B CIB "AR Rifle Building and Photography School" for the build and photo.

I get a chuckle out of the "distressed" cerakote patterns. It's like buying your jeans with holes already in the knees.

I'm partial to a rattle can or DuraCoat approach. Something less permanent so I can change my mind like a politician in November.

Duracoat is less permanent than Cerakote?

Well, I don't know about when a pro does it, but my DuraCoat jobs haven't been much more durable than Krylon. I'm totally willing to accept that it's operator error.

Never used either but I have heard some prefer Cerakote. Just seeking out the voice of experience before I try my hand.

I'm thinking of spray painting my main AR this weekend... Have to what the weather does.

IME, Cerakote is much more durable than duracoat. I like molyresin even better, but the bake on cerakote is solid. Duracoat is overpriced spray paint...

Did you paint that? If so, what was the process/materials used? I like it...a lot!

Laid down a base coat of vertical, diagonal 2" stripes of Krylon Camo in Olive Green, Sand, Brown, Gray and Woodland Light Green.

After that had a chance to dry, I stretched a mesh decoy bag around the rifle, tied it down with sections of floss and hit the rifle with Krylon Camo Khaki.

I purposely did not try to get the 'snakeskin' effect over the entire rifle...just here and there...enough to break up the pattern.
