I dont think they will get too far. They would have to prove how they know how much ammo was stolen. Maybe Cabelas has some records. But then proving that only drug dealers and crooks ended up with the stolen ammo is nonsense. In 2021 there was a total of 1600 or so criminal use of firearms recorded in DE. The number one use was suicide. A major ring in Delaware was 30 people. Maybe dealers in Delaware carry major stockpiles of ammo or something. Its hard to imagine even all of Delaware could steal that much ammo. Theres only a million people in the whole state

500 cases of ammo? Sounds like the beginning of a decent cache … but not quite stockpile … for some here …
~7.5 tons of ammo. 😳

Nah (jokingly) … they just have a hand truck for “rotating” their “bulk” stuff (and a chart recorder to make sure temperature and humidity do not go awry) … and that just their mil-surp type stuff. Then
big surprise is when they actual pull out their Excel spread sheet and figure today’s “market value” and realize just how much the “precious metals” investment is worth at today’s prices 🤫

… in all seriousness I was pretty much joking your 7.5 tons does bring to an interesting thought up … who ever was doing this was likely doing it “out the back” or “falls off a truck” type thievery style. If 500,000 rounds “disappeared” in less than a year that would be about 1,400 per day average which ain’t just a shoplifter box here and there … Inside Job!

Exactly it doesnt pass the reasonability check. If its being used as the article referenced, Deleware should be a war zone. However DE paints itself as the land of peace and tranquility in which very few people have or want a gun...... Which is it???

A lot of employee incompetence?
Academy Sports tried to give me an extra 1500 or so rounds when i did a store pickup order. Like a good honest subject I informed them of their error. They thanked me for my honesty and they'd give me a really nice discretionary discount in the future.

No discount, they promptly forgot who i was.

Have you forgotten Corn Pop? 😂

Simple job, won’t take a genius to figure it out. Could be as simple as a cashier not scanning a few things in a buddies cart every day, or a delivery driver colluding with a receiving clerk and stuff not making it off the truck. What isn’t likely is shoplifting.

We made it available to patriotic Ukrainians. They just had to come pick it up.

So we looked it up yesterday and Delaware appears to be one of those states that has a hefty $ treshold before shoplifting will even be prosecuted. So Cabelas probably just saw no reason to have employees take any risks to prevent people stealing.
