41.5 gns of H5350
140 grn Hornady Match Bullet Est. 2700 ft/sec

The shot by itself was a cold bore shot.

That's about how my Savage LRP shoots the match bullets with the load I use for my 140eld. I've been tempted to use them since they're cheaper but the elds shoot so tight it's hard to give it up.

Late to the party, but I’m curious. Does this rifle always throw the cold bore shot away from the rest of the shots? Was the bore clean or dirty before the first shot?

Nice shooting, btw. Savage makes great rifles for the price.

Longrange, I do not know about the first shot. Always heard that the first shot/clean bore might be off a little. I am not sure that I want to try it again. I can tell you, that day after shooting 100 yards I went to the 500 yard range and went 3 for 3. I brought a guy to the range that has never shoot 500 yards and really did not shoot scope rifles and he went 2 for 3..

CAfool68, I made the dope correction but have not been back to the range with that gun

Ok, but unless I had prior experience that says the cold bore shot is always off, I would call that a .75” 5-shot group. Still a nice group, though.
