Anyone have any first hand experience with Athlon optics? Considering partnering with them as a dealer but the buy in is realtively significant, especially for a brand that isn't really well known. Just thought I would see if you guys had any experience or opinions of them.

I have read good things. They say they are decent glass for the money. I was thinking of getting one of their 8x30s somethings but talked myself out of it.

Definitely talk them down. No need to pay high to get in with a new company imo.

We took a class with Bangsteel in VA a few weeks ago and the instructor's son is sponsored by them. He had one of Athlon's higher end FFP scopes on his APO 6.5 Lapua. We all looked through it and the optics were amazing. 4 different people put 4 rounds in a quarter size group at 400 yards. Probably a fluke and more the gun than the scope, but it was very nice. Easily equal to the nightforce one of the guys was shooting and much nicer than my Vortex HS-T

An Athlon is my next scope purchase, I just have not decided on model yet. Some of their MOA reticules I find lacking compared to the MIL reticule.

I have purchased nothing but Vortex since 2010 and been extremely pleased with their quality and price points. I have looked through two Athlon FFP's and for the price point (~$400) they were impressive for both glass quality and features.

A lot of people on Enos like them, for whats thats worth.

I never have seen one in the wild that I can remember, but sure would like to.

Thanks everyone. I have heard nothing but great things about them to this point.

If anyone is looking to get one anytime soon please let me know. I will be offering substantial discounts to anyone willing to pre-order.

Which Sightron?

Admittedly one that's a bit more money. I have SIII's on most rifles with a couple SII Big Sky which are more comparable price wise. I don't recall the Athlon I handled but it was mid range and just OK.

From a business standpoint they blew up maybe a year ago and would let just about anyone sell them. Couldn't go on a facebook group, etc without having people trying to get them out there. Will be interesting seeing if they have legs to last.

Well after talking to a few guys I'm thinking I'm going to order the 6x24x50 Argos. It has good reviews and the people I have talked to say it's awesome glass for the $$.

Likely an Argos. That seems to be their most popular unit. It's about 1/3 the price of an SIII. I think we can all find something nicer with 3x the budget.

I buy them used for like $600 all the time so yea at that $1k price it's a different discussion. I'd be more worried about the number of dealers and whether or not they follow MAP, etc. There's a market for them though, they worked REALLY hard to get the name out there.
