Anybody run one?

Looking for the best option. I’ve got a rustic wood coop and would like to add this feature for personal ease but more to aid in someone watching my house and tending to my animals when I go on a week vacation this summer.

I'm pretty sure there was a thread about just this setup not to long ago. But I can't find it.

Dang. I thought this was about a door, that when opened, would automatically give me chicken.

So much fail.

I looked into it but never got one. Back when we had chickens there weren't kits like there are now.

Subscribing here in case someone posts something great. I'm still opening & closing mine manually. I could put something together but who has the time?

$21 seems reasonable.

Actually, I just looked on Amazon, this same model is $200 there, this 20.99 price might be a misprint, I'd try and buy one before they catch it.

Tagged for interest.
Acquiring laying hens is on the top of the list once we retire.
We tried before, but lost them one by one to predators.
We miss those awesome eggs!

Chinesium quality, right up there with automatic pet feeders......

I wouldnt trust one with my flock; I'd rather pay and train a farmhand if I felt the need to leave the ranch. Which I don't very often.

We use electric poultry fencing (4x164ft) for a huge run that I can move around as I wish. No need to free range when I'm not there.

Greatest thing ever.
It was $40 cheaper a year and a half ago.
It is has stuck close a couple of times from ice and will stop if something blocks it's path, but that is really a good thing instead of crushing a chicken.

I have one that I have hooked to a small solar panel and battery. I've been using it for about a year and really like it. I got it all off amazon and didn't spend a bunch of money. It's made in China stuff and I wish the material on the door was heavier but it will keep chickens in and most other things out. If the local black bear decides he wants in he's going to find a way but a fox, raccoon or coyote wouldn't make it. It's really nice not having to worry about letting them out or making sure the door is shut at night because we do have fox, coyote and raccoons that would love a chicken dinner.
The only two negatives I have about it would be the programming for the door was a little difficult to work through but now that I understand it, it's no big deal. The other would be that during the winter with short days, if you get a series of overcast days with little sun then the panel can't keep up. After about 2-3 days like that the battery is basically done and you're going to have to run a charger out there to open/close the door.
