B29 Doc coming to Statesville

Gonna be at the beach. Missed an opportunity again. Waited an hour or so to see one land at RDU and it was hrs late. Saw a B17 and B24 on the ground somewhere. Didnt go inside either, lines and heat.

I'll have to look in my book and see if I got pics of that one. My Dad worked on the B-29s in the 50s, I have a book full of pics of him and the old Airplanes he worked on. He also flew on them in the 50s when they flew them as Hurricane chasers.
He also worked on the original AF1, Lockheed Constellation. I have pics of him with that plane. They are restoring that one now in Virginia, I want to go up there and donate the pics I got to them, and take a few new ones.

In the 60's and I lived on Guam the Navy was still fling B29's.

Weather planes

Rescue down B52 crews, dropping rafts

Ship rescue, dropping rafts

Spying on all the Russian fishing boats off shore.

Glad I saw this, we'll be there if at all possible.

I'd like to do the cockpit tour

Dang, I duped you....sorry

I searched :(

We want to do a cockpit tour and then see her take off and land for the rides.

However, between end of tours and rides it's 2.5 hrs to kill. I don't think that's going to work for us
