Well this wasn't hard at all. In fact, the worst part was trying to cut the barrel shroud attached to the FSB off flush without buggering up the barrel.
Really wish I would have got into this when Saigas were still cheap.

Still not sure if I want to press of the FSB or just leave it alone. Anyone tried out one of those Venom Tactical "bolt on" gas block/front sight deals? Seems a lot less forgiving than trying to press on another front sight and gas block.

Nice start! No words of advice/wisdom from me, as I've been hesitant to move forward on my rear-converted IZ132L. Other than cosmetic touches, anyway.

How'd you remove the shroud, any tips?

Very carefully.

I dremeled circumference and then made cuts lengthwise. Peeled off pieces like flower petals.

Did a few shotguns, think they are easier though. Glad you got one, don't think we will see those again for a while...if ever .

I went with Dinzag, been very happy with my bolt on retainer, but I still want to do full conversion because I'm a purist. I still need to do my muzzle attachment too. I was planning on using a pipe cutter.

Pipe cutter is probably the easiest way, just won't get you flush, but Dinzag has a couple '74 style brakes that will cover the left over shroud if you cut it back far enough.

Went through and hand fit all my Weiger mags. Fit great, but hard to know how reliable they will be until I get the bullet guide in.
