Just got home yesterday from my adventure in Cuba(threads and stories to come). It was an experience unlike any other in my life. From beyond 3rd world living situations and the 1st time I've been in a communist country, to the lack of contact with the outside world, it was something else. If you can swing it and get down there for even a short stay before the new rules come into play, I recommend it. It has to be seen to be understood...

Glad to be home though. Looking forward to CELEBRATING the 4th this year... We really do have it good here...

Do the Cuban people know how good we have it compared to what they have?
and what was the best dish you ate ? didit come from a restaurant or off a street vendor

I just got back from Mexico and I can see why they are all trying to come here. We don't know what poor is.

I've been to many parts of Mexico from the poorest to the richest. There are some really nice places in Mexico. Doesn't compare to Cuba. Even the "wealthy" live in relative squalor there...

Best food was a boxed lunch from a street vendor called a "cajita"(literally little box in Spanish). Rice and herbs with bits of pork in it topped with a couple of slices of pork meat. You tear off the lid and use it as a spoon to eat it. Not many forks to be had on the street. No plastic disposable stuff at all. It was a pile of food. We gave the leftovers to some very grateful homeless guys. Cost me $3 with the pork on top and a beer...

Welcome home. So much is taken for granted here in the States until you've been to some third world country.

CD
Absolutely. And we should keep in mind that what we have here is perishable. Bringing in enough of the third world and still expecting America to remain the same is a dangerous fantasy.

@bigfelipe When is the full write up coming?

I'm been seriously looking forward to it.
He's been busy regaling us between stages and after lunch at matches. You have to be at the right time and place to get the play by play, face to face.

I live vicariously through the guy on Taco Tuesday's and then he drops this trip as a taunt.

What needs to happen to get this done?
Hopefully he'll be at the BUG match in Dunn the last Saturday of this month. Be there or be square, and hear it in person.

Sadly for you, I'll be at the USPSA Rifle match at Sir Walter that day...

Sorry. I'm working on it. Backed up with work and being sick. I'll get it together soon. Need to go through pics from Barcelona, Cuba, and even Ireland still...
