From range pickups, donations, and loading activities I'm ending up with a lot of brass. I only use a few calibers, so I've got my 'odd pistol' (everything but 9mm) and my 'odd rifle' (all but .223, 308, 300blk) bucket I'll trade someone at some point.

I've also got brass that I've torn up, is damaged, or is berdan primed. What should I do with that? Is it worth recycling or not worth the trouble?

I keep a box under the bench, when it becomes full I take it to the local "metal man" exchange it for $ and then exchange those $ for more brass.

I save all the damaged brass, .22LR brass that I can get. May take me a year or two. Its $1.60 a lb.... so fill a 5 gallon bucket and take it in.

I also throw spent primers in there for a little filler weight.

I checked a scrap place near CLT and they offered $1/lb. Would like to find better, any suggestions?

I've been wanting to build a propane forge just so I can melt down the brass I've accumulated. Make some sweet brass knuckles or something.

I have a coffee can for damaged brass and 1 for aluminum casings and I'll take them to the scrap guy when they get full. Prices vary based on the market at the time. If you are in/near Charlotte Wise Recycling on Brookshire Blvd is where I take mine. Prices seem fair and it's close by the house.

Thanks, I’ll give Wise a call.
