Wait until we hear all throughout the media that Weiss was appointed US Attorney by Trump.

After spending 5 years to reach a sweetheart deal that a judge couldn't swallow, the DOJ prosecutor is given a new title and can spend a few more years investigating Hunter even more thoroughly until after the 2024 election.

this^ Weiss was responsible for the plea deal. I'm sure he will get this one right.

Run out the clock on the statute of limitations.

Let’s see… the new “special counsel” is the same government attorney that negotiated the sweetheart plea deal with Hunter???

Well, yeah ... but now he has a cooler title and authority to waste a couple more years investigating Hunter even more betterer.

Not that makes a difference in the corrupt government….

The funny thing about the Special Counsels regulation is that DOJ adopted it AFTER the Independent Counsel Act had expired. In short, it is a regulation without an underlying law. And on top of that, DOJ has routinely ignored the regulation in the appointment of Special Counsels (John Durham was appointed Special Counsel in 2020, but continued to be US Attorney for Connecticut until 2021 and Weiss is the US Attorney for Delaware).

I'll admit I don't know anything about how the independent counsel and special counsel and/or any of that works, but I think in this case it dosen't matter. Nothing is going to happen, so putting all sorts of fancy names on the 'we investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong' process really doesn't change anything for us dummies.

Another thing to remember is they don't have to comment on active investigations. So you can investigate someone to try and punish them. Or you can investigate someone to keep all the info out of the public eye until it's less harmful. And you control how much is trickled out and when.
