Andrew at BPM has said he’s got to increase dealer price across the board by about $50 each due to his increase cost of materials and components. That basically means his $749.95 Basic Patrol Rifle will go up to about $50 to around $800 and so on up the line ... which is still a great price for the gun you’re getting ... so if you’re thinking of picking up an AR now might be a good time to buy be BPM prices. I am not sure the last price increase I remember from BPM. But I know that $749.95 price for the Basic Patrol Rifle has been there for at least 2 to 3 years so with the times changing to me it is understandable.

Have a couple. Will get more.

I have a Barnes AR pistol. Love that thing. They are/were around.
I'd like to have one before the pistol braces get banned but I'm not really a panic buyer. I have what I need....

Same here, I paid around $1,200 for mine years ago. I didn’t realize they had gotten as inexpensive as they are now.
Andrew came out with the Basic Patrol Carbine at a more price friendly point by doing a few things ... go with a 5.56 chrome moly steel barrel vs the .223 stainless steel (the SS barrel is more accurate but more cost to use but the BPC still is plenty accurate), basic GI grip and buttstock vs Magpul furniture, GI trigger vs a polished trigger group, no BUIS or mag and a cardboard box vs a nice poly case. You still get the same receivers, NiB BCG, indestructible rail and top notch fit and finish but he thought the $750 price point for a carbine was about spot on and considering most buyers swap out furniture for what they like, most run some form of optic or red dot so BUIS are a choice so let the buyer decide what type if any and as to case ... another personal choice hard or soft.

I look also see it if I were to build an AR to that level ... just say low balling the prices ... $200 for the upper and lower w/that tension screw feature, $150 barrel, $150 NiB BCG and $250 Indestructo rail and you’re at $750 already for just those pieces not including innards/lower parts kit, gas block and tube, charging handle, buffer tube, spring, buffer and furniture along with damn good fit and finish in its assembly. That’s why I always point to a BPM when someone asks about their first AR ... dollar value it beats the hell out of anything I know of, I’d count on it if ever needed and it’s made right here in NC.

Oh yeah, BPM might not be a big commercial name but they supply a boat load of law enforcement departments across the country as well as some “special guys” with firearms, even some with fun switches, that we hear little if any about.

They got some pallets of Barne’s rifles at FG&G recently, but judging from the line outside the shop around noon today I’m guessing that herd got thinned.

I switched my Office over to the Barnes rifle a couple years now. They are a solid rifle at that price point. And as I recently told someone, I sleep good at night knowing I have a Barnes rifle with me at work. I also have a couple of personal Barnes rifles as well. I have no complaints with any of them. I have been wanting to try their pistols, just haven’t had the chance.

Fuquay Guns & Gold

Let me know if y’all find one. I ordered a BPM pistol on June 25th and it has not been built yet. Lead time then was 8-12 weeks. As of September 30th they were waiting for parts to build more. Hoping to get mine soon.

I was at FG&G about 2 weeks and they had several Barnes carbines in the rack. Didn’t see any pistols. Did you order pistol or rifle caliber? I know they were behind on their pistol caliber line. However, admittedly I haven’t talked with Barnes direct in about a month. So my information may be off.

Those looking for a Barnes ... Fuquay Gun just got in a shipment of FG&G specials. They are the fancier model type CQB (SS match barrel, Magpul furniture, enhanced fire control group) with a little special FG&G touch. They are about $1500 which IS NOT price gouging for THIS model.

That’s awesome ! Do you know what makes them different ? Or what the FG&G twist is ?
It’s basically the CQB basic specs and price that Clay and Andrew came up with for FG&G ... 14.5” SS match barrel in .223wylde with pin and welded muzzle device (for the 16” minimum requirement), maybe 1/2 are FDE the others are black with the SS barrel nitrometed black for complete black carbine ... after that its the standard CBQ Magpul furniture, NiB BCG, enhanced fire control group, BPS M-Lok rail, etc.

ETA: typical off the shelf M4-geries will maybe hang around 2moa ... these with the M4 SS match barrels WILL hold at least 1moa (5 shot groups) with factory match ammo and even better with the right handloads. PLUS, if you have any problem and are within driving distance to Apex ... you can even take it to them personally ... you might even have Andrew handle it himself (but you won’t know it unless you recognize him).

Andrew is a nice guy I met him at a class. I didn’t know who he was until a bit later in the class. He was humble and polite. Once we all figured out who he was it was on. The instructor of the class loved his products and had carried some of them in training or overseas something like that. Really knowledgeable guy

I did a class with one. I liked it fine and at that price I'd get one. I've no issue with not having a non-SS barrel...most people will never know the difference. But yeah, that's a great price in today's market.

That aside I take the whole "special guys use them" with a grain of salt....knowing some "special guys" it's usually that they take personal weps to the range, another guy wants to shoot it, and rumor gets out "now the guys with XXX are using brand YYY". I have heard some LE departments have them, which is always good to see a small/local manufacturer get some business instead of a Big Box Brand.

Had this happen when I bought 4 BPM uppers back when we did the group buy at the other place. One of his people had packed the uppers into on gun case and shipped them, one arrived all buggered up along the rail, dropped them a email, got a phone call within a day and asked if I could bring it by the shop. Dropped into the shop and was met by someone (Andrew I later found out), he was super apologetic and we got to talking, got a tour of the shop and my wife noted some FDE rails with different shades that he was working on color matching before they released the color. She mentioned that she really liked the FDE and of course asked me why I didn't get her one in FDE. We left and Andrew said he would get the rail replaced and be back in touch. I got a email from him, which is when I figured it out, asking if the upper was going to be my wife's.

When I met him to pick it up, it was one of the FDE rails, so I had a FDE rail from them before they were released, with a note in the box that he agreed with my wife and the shade she pointed out matched the best and was what they were going with.

Now everytime I mention buying a AR, she says:
"If it's not a Barnes, why bother?"

BPMs are still some of the best "working guns" out there, they did a LOT of the work in the days after 9-11. That price increase is minimal in todays craziness.

Little backstory here ... Barnes actually has been manufacturing parts for other firearms manufacturers for over 20 years. They’ve even machined cores for the OSS suppressors (I dont know if they still do) along with other limited production type parts for other companies. It was not until just after Odumba took office Andrew decided “hey why not ... we should enter the complete firearms market”. Their FFL & SOT allows for manufacturing of the fun stuff as well as normal AR’s and Andrew‘s been know to pop up at the range with SBR’s that have fun switches and what sure look like “flow through“ suppressors ... which he is know to let others try for fun. I can’t personally vouch for all his customers ... but I do know Cary PD ordered Patrol Carbines for their department maybe 5 give or take years back and their LEO’s like ‘em so much many bought their own.

To be clear, I like their stuff. Some of his tech is cutting edge. And their "entry" prices are phenomenal.

I've met Andrew at matches. He cares about his product. It's a good product at a fair price, imo.

You know who else used to be like that? Old Man Daniel and Daniel Defense. DD still makes good stuff, but I don't think they are as good as when they were smaller and more accessible. I would think that's a fine line to walk, putting out quality stuff and caring about your product and people, and trying to go corporate.

I imagine a business like that can be a leviathan that just keeps growing new heads!
