Ronnie and the crowd at Barrett Firearms sold out to an Aussie defense contractor apparently.

100% ownership sold.

Wonder what this means for future civilian sales with an offshore company running things. Australia being the bastion of freedom that it is. 🤔

I still want a 87a1 should have bought one years ago.

"All management and staff at the Murfreesboro manufacturing facility in Tennessee have been retained, and production will continue as normal. Over time it is expected and that manufacturing activities in Murfreesboro will be further expanded."

I know nothing of how this deal is structured or how long things will stay as they are but the above statement makes me optimistic.

.

You probably have 2yr to buy what you’ve been dreaming about before they make any major changes.

I’d love to have an M82/M107 of some flavor one day, but no way I can justify the cost.

It's another "Red, White, and Blue Patriot sells his company to a nanny-state overseas instead of domestically" episode.
Money talks.

Man I hate to hear this news. Always wanted a .50 cal but don’t have a place to stretch its legs far enough to make it worth owning.

I bet they will start making changes sooner rather than later. A lot of times, companies will make a big deal about keeping the employees. But they will put in place a bunch of new processes and procedures that will make the older employees leave on their own.

You guys are failing to acknowledge the strong possibility that the folks who bought the company would like to see as high of a return on their investment as possible. Therefore, self restricting legal sales to willing buyers would be a great hindrance to that goal.

As mentioned above, money has magical powers.

Damn. Somebody made them an offer they couldnt refuse. I have alternately heard their guns were not accurate and vise versa. I was also just told that 1 MOA accuracy at 1000yds was acceptable for a big bore shoudler cannon like that. I have no experience with said weapon but that's not good enough for me.

I sometimes think about situations like this. You make your mark in the world through hard work and dediation. Then someone comes along and offers you comfortable retirement money for your effors... Let someone else take the reigns.

Pretty sure the m82a1 is not a 1moa rifle, IIRC 2ish at best. Not sure about the m107.

@Jerzsubbie fella over on ARF that used to work for Barrett hinted that the production cost of a m82 is under $2k. He said they have an insane mark up. Can y’all imagine how much money PSA could make selling a semi 50bmg at an affordable price 😮

Not to mention, producing 50bmg ammo.

Let someone else have all the headaches and ulcers. Ronnie went broke like 3 times before he saw a profit.

Most off the shelf standard issue .50 ball rounds are not accurate in the moa sense. It doesn't need to be.

NRA had no clue...

"Right now, our time is occupied with the two [service] rifles,
the MRAD Mark 22 and the M107. We’re sold out until 2024,
running full capacity."

I consider myself fortunate to have purchased a few Barrett products the last 10 years or so after hearing about this sale.
