Bataan Death March Whites Sands Missile Range

Headed to White Sands Missile Range the middle of March for the Bataan Death March. I have read the description of the event on their main page but was wondering if anyone on here had ever participated. They describe deep sand and high desert conditions and I was wondering how good or bad it may really be.

Participated in the march yesterday. It was a well run event. There was a total of just shy of 5800 participants in 5 waves. I was in the honorary wave which was a 14.2 mile hike with 840 participants. The terrain was a combination of hard surface and sand with slight elevation gains. The other waves were 26.2 miles in length split between military heavy (35lb pack) and military and civilian light, which is pack optional. Overall I enjoyed the course, people and camaraderie. If everything goes well I will be back next year.
