Realized I need a new one just now.. looking for recommendations. Whatcha got?

If you need to charge a battery from completely dead, keep watch on the one you buy. Some of the newer ones won't charge them.

I have the Schumacher model

DSR121. It's pricey but will do anything I ever need.

Should clarify... just needed one to have on hand..better to have and not need than need and not have sorta thing. :)

It hit me I never bought a replacement for the one I left 3k miles away..

I have one of the Schumakers you can carry. It works ok for what it is. If the battery is completely dead it might not charge it. I think it detects a dead cell or other problem. So far, everytime it would not charge a battery it turned out to need replacing. The noco is a good one also.

I picked up a 7200 on closeout - I think someone here posted the link - to replace my old 3500 that didn't have the desulfator.

I’ve got a noco genius and a CTEK. Both work well, the CTEK has brought a few old batteries back to life. I want to pick up an associated equipment charger at some point but they are pricy.

In the past I've always used the Battery Tender mentioned above but it is slow as the output is only just over an amp. This is good for standard flooded lead acid but that is all that it can do. I picked up a Noco Genius 10 a few months back. It has the ability to handle several different battery types, standard flooded, lithium, and AGM which I like a lot as the different makeups require different amp charging rates for the best charging. So far, its been good. I bought the quick disconnect leads as well for several of the batteries. There is a battery restoration feature but I haven't tried it yet.

highly recommend the optima 400 charger - charges regular, deep cycle, AGM, and optima high performance AGM. Also acts as a trickle charger/maintainer. Will also recover deeply discharged batteries.

The 400 charges at a max of 4 amps for $100. The 1200 charges at a max of 12 amps for $220.

Nice LCD display shows mode, voltage, and charging current.

Thank you Gentlemen. My son fried my Schumacher not long ago. I think it just died, nothing he did. I don't think they make Schumacher like they used to and I've been looking for an alternative.

We've had battery tender's in the past for trickle (and a Schumacher normal charger that buzzed like a tattoo machine). Last few years we've transitioned to the Noco Genius as mentioned by others here.

Have two one-plug chargers (a tiny Genius5 and an older G3500) as well as a 4 bank Genius4 we use to trickle charge our boat batteries in the winter. Prefer the Genius to the Battery Tenders - seem to have more sensing logic and be able to bring batteries back up to full charger when the Tender had given up with errors.

Wow! I haven't even looked on Amazon today as I didn't think I needed anything. Bought a Genius10 and a couple of the small Genius1's to replace a couple old tender's that seem to have stopped working. Thanks!

For those with the battery tender 2 prong SAE leads already installed on your batteries. There is a NOCO adapter that adapts the NOCO leads to 2prong SAE. I ordered one last week. $8

Amazon has most of the NOCO chargers and boosters on sale today for really good prices. I’m super happy with mine.
