Cover Six in Clayton has a special on BE86 right now. $15 per pound. This has become one of my favorite pistol powders.

Nope. It's Power Pistol with a flash suppressant. If you have bought any factory ammo in 9, 45, or 40 in the last 20 years, chances are it was this powder they were using. It is superb. Some people are calling it the "New Unique", as it is versatile and works across many calibers. I've used it in 380, 9, 40, 10mm, 45acp, 38spl, 357mag, and 44mag. It has worked well across all, and has proven that it is not position sensitive which makes it a great powder for mid-range magnum loads.
It is closer to Power Pistol than Unique in most respects. However, I have seen very different results with BE86 over Power Pistol, particularly with regards to position sensitivity. It has worked much better for me in 45acp and 357mag than Power Pistol. BTW, Power Pistol was originally referred to as BE84.Nope. It's Power Pistol with a flash suppressant. So to summarize, the "so what" on BE-86 is that it has the outstanding ballistics and ignitability of the BE series powders, in Unique burnrate, with great metering characteristics, with FS to moderate the flash bloom.
Alliant does not list any load data for BE86 with shot shell loads.I may pick some up after my bottle of Unique is up. Does it also work in 12 ga? Unique is my buckshot powder.
