Beginner recurve bow

I'm wanting to get a recurve bow. My grandfather used one and I would love to learn how to shoot one. I do use a compound bow. Is there a decent bow for $200 I can get? What pound draw should I look for 30lb? Can I use my arrows I use for my compound with the recurve? Thanks

Are you going to hunt with it?
I hear good things about the Samick Sage bow. ~ $100
You "could " shoot the arrows you have, but they wound fly right and the fletching might not match either.
Get arrows to match the bow you buy.
What's the poundage on your compound now?
I suggest one close to pounds you have now.

No hunting just target practice. My compound is set at 60lbs. I didn't know you needed different arrows for a recurve. Now I know lol

Feathers for traditional recurve. Vanes for compound.
Spline is different too.
I use a 500 foot my 45#.
My daughter uses 600 for her 30 & 500 for her 40.
Tip weight will be different too.
Don't have as many running adjustments but that generally isn't an issue.

When you find that you like it and are ready to up it a little, check out the Bear Grizzly. It is a very nice one piece recurve. <$400.

Lancaster Archery Supply has a great selection of traditional bows (recurve and longbows) and all the arrows and accessories. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff.

They carry Samack and their own brand Galaxy which are both good beginner bow options under $200.

With the information you have provided about what you are looking to do here is the bow I would recommend.
Galaxy Sage Elite 62" Takedown Recurve Bow. I would start with a 40lb. Don't over bow yourself to start. Work on form, anchor and release and practice a lot.
