Looking for advice/help in setting a belt for 2 gun matches. I shoot a pistol right handed, but a rifle left handed. Right now I have my belt set as pistol on right hip, 4 pistol mag pouches on left side, and 2 rifle mag pouches on the right side behind the holster.

Is there a better set than this?

Please don't say learn to shoot rifle right handed, with out corrective glasses my right eye sucks, but left is good. I've been shooting rifle lefty for 30+ years.

My first reaction would be to set it up as you have been. You obviously don’t want to impact your draw stroke by having to go around rifle mags. Only other thing I could think of is maybe a chest rig but not sure that’d be any faster than what your currently doing.

Have you considered mounting rifle mag carrier on left front hip angled toward 2:00? In front of pistol mags?

Seems you could quickly get to mag with right hand.

Edit: a lot of PCC shooters in USPSA put mags on front of belt, which is what makes me think of it.

I might try this set and see how it feels, thanks for the idea.

4 pistol mags and 2 rifle mags? I suspect that's overkill for the vast majority of matches and you can reclaim much of your 'real estate'.

I shoot rifle left handed as well. My pistol mags (x2) are mounted on the right side and take up pretty much the same amount of space as a pistol holster. My rifle mag (x1) pouch rides immediately behind those pistol mags at right about 3 o'clock. The only thing I can think would cause an issue here is if you need to grab that rifle mag while the pistol is holstered, the butt may interfere. So, I'd just move that rifle mag slightly behind your hip (maybe 5 o'clock) and call it good.

To make my point more clear...I see a lot of shooters have rifle mags on the support side (right in this case) that are 'behind' the hip or darn near behind the back. Rifle mags are easy to grab, so this position is generally not a problem.

I, too, run one rifle mag holder behind my pistol mags quite far back, where it's easy to grab in a beer can type grip.
And, just two pistol mag pouches as well.

I've only ran into one or two stages in 3gun/2gun where I needed another rifle mag. And, that would be on a long technical stage where a quick reload isn't as necessary, so I just stick it in my back pocket. I've never needed more than one pistol mag in gun and two on belt.
