I had just finished shooting my 10/22 and I had it slung on my back when I walked into the shed and forgot I had the suppressor on it, which is a big long 9mm. It hits the top of the doorway and knocks the rifle off my shoulder, I was carrying other stuff and tried to grab it resulting in it pivoting at the butt end and the suppressor slamming down hard on the threshold. It definitely bent the barrel at the threads.

This model was a special I ordered I think from CDNN, it had some weird European threading but came with an adapter for 1/2 x 28, which I had locktighted down when I got it. I doubt it could have bent just the adapter but I'm going to take it off and see.

Any ideas for re-truing the barrel, or is it time for a better barrel? The can seems fine, threads are good and looking through it everything seems true. Think I should have it checked out anyway?

You can even see it with an A2 style flash hider. Please disregard the PVC pipe bomb a.k.a. suppressor case.

I’d re-barrel it. Unless you wanna SBR it :D

I think it is just the adapter. I would at least rule that out before jumping into a new barrel.

I'm with this...… or along that route. Usually your weakest link is the threaded area.... most likely the threads on the end of the barrel or the adapter. From the pic..... most likely the male threads on the adapter. If the adapter is threaded down so there is no space between the barrel and the adapter... the male threads of the adapter or the female threads inside the suppressor would be the weakest link. Your barrel is most likely OK.

To add, the adapters are not usually very thick and use questionable steel sometimes.

I would pull the adapter and check zero. If the sights are still on then its the adapter.

I would suggest mounting the can on another host and verifying it was not damaged. If you have a straight dowel or even better baffle tool verify its bore is still concentric with the other host’s bore.

It's hard to tell at this point. I took the adapter off and cleaned off the thread locker, there's still a lot of resistance threading the adapter on/off the barrel so either the adapter or barrel (or both) at that connection is torqued, no resistance threading accessories on the other end of the adapter. I don't have anything that fits the native barrel threads so I can't mount something to check the angle. If the barrel is bent I'm either going to get the barrel RR posted (thanks) or have it chopped and re-threaded since it currently is 18", depending on how much that cost. I think I'm just going to shoot it and see if zero has moved like chrishf12 suggested. I don't think there could be enough of a bend to cause problems with soft lead 22lr.

I looked at aftermarket barrels but anything any better cost as much as the rifle and is .920" which would require a new stock.

Yall are right though the adapter is a lot thinner than the barrel at the threads. Going to shoot it tomorrow and get the rest of the story.

Look very closely at the relief area between the male threads and the shoulder of the adapter. Maybe mark it with a sharpie and then use a rag to rub the ink off. I bet that you find a small crack.

So it was the adapter! :) I shot it with nothing on the barrel and it shot fine. If anything the group had moved slightly to the right and the bend was to the left. Accuracy was about what it was.

Thanks for the link BP, I'm guessing this is the correct one (M13.5 x 1 LH female to 1/2″ x 28 male)? https://hughesprecision.com/product...adapter-barrel-adapter-thread-converter-copy/ I actually have given serious thought to the HTA 9022 , the ZK looks similar.

I'm actually still considering having it cut back to 16" and threaded for cosmetic and handiness reasons, and two more inches gives you little to nothing with typical 22 ammo. I'd rather pay someone $50 to do that than buy an adapter for $20 + shipping. Anyone here doing that kind of work, and is my price estimation in the ballpark?
