Don't tell my wife, but I just ordered one! Seems like a good gun so I'm looking forward to it. I'll post pics when she gets in.

Got the 1301 Tactical and was able to put a few rounds through it last week. Now I'm not much of a shotgun guy, but it seems like a solid gun that shoots smoothly and has a decent trigger. Shot some light target loads, high brass target loads, and a few slugs. All functioned flawlessly. I had read that this gun recoiled a bit less than others, but I really couldn't tell that it did. Seemed about on par with other guns I've shot. The sights were good and super easy to see. It's be fun to get a red dot on it though. Maybe one day...

I did make one upgrade right out of the box and that was a bolt release shroud from Tau Development Group. If you rock back on the bolt release while the 1301 is loaded, you can cause a jam which can be a pain to clear. It's a bit of a design flaw on Beretta's part. I had seen a couple of videos (such as this one from MrGunsNGear) detailing the problem, so I went into the purchase knowing I would upgrade it. You can see the latch shroud in the pics below. It's low profile and does the job of keeping you from causing a misfeed.

All in all, I like the gun but I still need to get out and put some more rounds through it.

What'd you pay for it? And why this over a Benelli? I have an M1S90, M2 22", and a Beretta 1201FP. I also had an FN SLP Mk1. I prefer the Benellis over any of the others.

I thing I paid $1096 for it. I would have liked to get a Benelli M4, but I couldn't justify the extra $1000. Plus I don't know a single person who has a 1301 Tactical. And since I'm a special snowflake, I needed a special snowflake gun, :)

I LOVE my 1301 Competition.

I did have to do a tiny bit of polishing on the shell catch to prevent some hang ups. If you have issues loading that first shell - check out this thread:

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind if I run into any issues. Right now, I don't have enough rounds through it to know if it's a problem or not.

M4s can be had for $1400 to $1600, so not really $1K more. Not bashing your choice at all as I was going to add a 1301 to the Arsenal until I watched the MrGunsNGears video.

Love my 1301 Comp as well. Added the Nordic mag extension. It will fire as fast as I can pull the trigger.
