What to say about a weird gun that was not successful, is unattractive and weighs a ton?

Well, it was Beretta’s entry into the polymer framed pistol market in 2000. It lasted 5-6 years and other than appearing in the hand of moonbat Tom Cruise in a movie, it was quite unremarkable.

What’s a guy to do? Acquire an unliked and unpopular pistol is a caliber I don’t like. The Beretta 9000s chambered in .40. Why? Well, I wanted a Beretta and @LazyBones wanted to be as far from this one as possible.

I wanted to dislike this pistol. I had shot it once and was about as impressed as I am with white bread. It’s there, it does a job, but it’s fifty shades of meh.

I took it out yesterday and put some rounds through it. Once I got used to the ridiculously fat and stumpy grip, I found I could shoot the thing pretty well. The weight of the pistol took away most of the .40 snap. It was reasonably accurate, meaning I could put rounds on top of each other at 7 yards with no effort.

It’s nothing special. It’s Dr. Thunder in a case of Dr Pepper.

You know what? I kinda like the ugly duckling.

It is interesting that it keeps the open top slide Beretta is known for. I personally never seen one in the flesh.

That flip down pinky extension is cool. What if that was connected to a 1911-ish backstrap button that would deploy the extention as the web of your hand made contact with the pistol as you aquire your master grip to draw?

Sold my 9000s ages ago. Incredibly awkward pistol. But like most guns I’ve sold over the years, I regret selling it.

I bought the 9000s in .40 when they first came out. I actually liked shooting it and kinda wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of it.
