Looking for a suppressor for a mark 4 and also possibly on a ruger 10/22. Dont want to spend a ton of money on it but want it to be quiet that i can shoot in my yard without bothering neighbors. Suggestions?

I’ve got a SiCo spectre II and love it. The DA mask is nice too.

I have three (although I'm having trouble remembering the brand of one of them), but I have a Thunderbeast TBAC 22 Takedown on my MK 4, and it does an awesome job of keeping my neighbors unaware.

:D

I also have the Checkmate QD. It resides on a M&P .22 Compact.

The third one is on my M&P 15-22 SBR. That's the one I can't remember the brand. I think I caught it on sale and bought it the same time @BigWaylon and @amnesia (maybe) bought one. I'm sure it will come to me shortly.

I have a checkmate QD on my savage 22 mag. Does a great job putting the sonic crack down range. The spectre i haven’t used yet but I believe that one was on sell.

I used the rugged oculus and warlock the most.

AAC Element 2

Best 22 can ever made. :p

There we go.

Thanks for keeping me from digging it out to verify. :D

Hahah same here and my guess was all wrong!

Rimfire cans are almost to the point you can’t go wrong with anything released in the last 3 years.

I have multiple Spectres and Warlocks, plus a Sparrow and an Element 2, and even a Form 1 can. The only one I wouldn’t recommend is the Sparrow. If you offered me one for free, I’d pass.

Definitely consider:
Dead Air Mask
Rugged Oculus
SiCo Switchback
TBAC Takedown
EA Nyx
AAC Halcyon
...and probably several others.

Since they’re almost all direct thread 1/2-28, you don’t have to worry about the mounting system. Find one with the size and price you’re comfortable with. Only other thing to really think about is the baffle material, which will determine your cleaning options.

I’ve got a Optimus Micro in jail, it’s a .22 can that is rated for centerfire calibers up to 22-250. Seems pretty versatile to me.

@BigWaylon I hear that form 1s get approved very quickly and is my understanding correct that a form 1 gives you the ability to just go build your own? Would that be my fastest option? I know certain "filters" or something along those lines can be used once a form 1 is obtained?

Definitely the fastest.

If you’re making your own parts, it’s a great option. If not, you won’t really save any money. Might end up costing more after engraving, finishing, etc.

I have an Element 2 and a TBAC .22 takedown. They are very similar, but to my ears the .22 takedown is slightly quieter.

Guessing if you had to pick between a Sparrow and Osprey micro, you throw them both in the trash? Haha

I have these two and have to admit the osprey micro sucks, glad I got it for free (minus the stamp), and the Sparrow is overbuilt and easy to clean but not the quietest.

I run the Sparrow, monolithic core with two piece inner sleeve, easy to keep clean.

Me too neither. Need to sell a couple more things and I'm going to order a silent squirrel buster. Little bastards are trying to get in my house. They are already in my gutters. They chewed up a $25 grill cover. Chewed on my neighbors recycled deck furniture. I need a $200 22LR suppressor recommendation.

Another vote for a Thunder Beast Takedown. I really like it on my 22/45 Mk 4 but I truly love it on my CZ 455 Varmint where it’s quiet enough you hear the hammer fall ... bolt action rifles are the quietest hosts ... and the “thud” when the round hits the squirrel. Even the squirrel sitting next to the victim doesn’t hear anything or know what happened half the time.

I can attest to the Thunder Beast 22 Takedown, the Warlock II, and the Sparrow. All are great and priced well. Out of these for a pistol/rifle, I love the Warlock II because it is the lightest. The Thunder Beast is probably the best at suppressing (out of these)IMHO.

Hmmm...that would be a tough call. Probably choose to take a micro and dedicate it to one host.

I like the idea of the Sparrow, but absolutely despise the takedown and reassembly. Moreso the reassembly.

It also has pretty bad FRP on a short barrel or pistol host.

I will say it shines in one category...and that’s if you’re tucking it inside a rail.

It was a star in its time, but I have zero use for it.

I like my Liberty and my xcaliber genesis, but they are both pretty long in th tooth and I haven’t shot the newer ones.

A shooting buddy just got his SiCo Switchback out of BATF jail last week and it is VERY impressive. The molecularity is nice for going between rifles and pistols with the long, medium, and short configurations. This supressor has what SiCo is calling a "rifle optimized" configuration which is hands down one of the quietest rimfire suppressors I have ever heard. I'd recommend either the SiCo Switchback or Dead Air Mask.

TBAC 22 Takedown is the best can on the market. Not sure where you are located but I have several 22 cans if you want to take a few for a test run.

Was impressed with the yhm stinger recently. Had a nice tone. Held up to mag dumps on my calico too. Probably put 700 rounds though it with almost 30 year old golden bullets and it was easy very easy take apart
Warlock is a good can but discontinued as well as the spectre
Dead air mask is a popular option in the shop but it always sounds louder to me. Seems to be a me thing though.

If you want a crazy light can the gemtech gm22 isn't a bad option. Weighs about as much as an a2 birdcage. But if you shoot a lot in one go, it can basically weld itself together. It is also rather cheap

I have been really enjoying my silencerco switchback. I have been using it on a mp 22 pistol, mp 15-22 rifle, and a ruger american rimfire and it has performed well. I did go through all four of the different configurations but usually leave it in the long/normal configuration.

I am enjoying my TBAC. Acquired from TSConver.

Happy with it for the pistol. Need a nice bolt gun for it, as it shines on those. Also need to get a threaded barrel for my 10/22. Nice can! Have tested it besides a few others, and it performs well.

With .22 suppressors there is usually a trade off between ease of cleaning (think stainless/titanium vs aluminum) and weight. If you want a pistol to balance the same as without a can that can only really be achieved with aluminum. If you're only buying one can for many applications then I would go stainless for durability and ease of cleaning (ultrasonic).

I own many .22 cans. If I could only have one it would be my Dead Air Mask. Spectre II would be a close second, but the Dead Air does everything just as good while being a more compact package.

Most all of the 22lr supressors on the market work well.
Very true! When clean my 20 year old Bowers CAC22 sounds awesome but it sucks when hung on a pistol at a portly 10.5 oz.

Since the OP stated a pistol host the weight of the can is important to me. I know everyone loves the Mask but 6+ ounces is too heavy for me compared to cans in the 4 ounce range with equal performance.

Hard to do better than the AAC Element II and I'm also enjoying a "Q" El Camino both are in the 4 ounce range and easy to clean. There are options in the sub 3 oz range like the Erector & Outback II but they use aluminum baffles so cleaning is not as simple.

I would also recommend the AAC Halcyon, it has a significantly lower first round pop, which if sound reduction is what you're going for, should be at the top of your list.
