CCI for me. I usually go Blazer for all around shooting.

CCI Blazer is the best bulk IMO.
CCI Minimags (preferably 40 gr round nose) are the best overall (but not as a precision target ammo obviously). If your 22 doesn't run with minimags it is defective.

    Mostly Blazer
Also have run a decent amount of M22 without issue
    Federal Automatch

CCI SV is my go-to, but not sure if that counts?

SV is very good subsonic but quite a few 22s run better with high velocity ammo, especially when they get a little dirty. Just a little more margin for energy to run the action in a semi-auto.

Yeah, CCI is my preference, but bulk means cheap to me. Also have had good luck with Aguila. It works it not a 100 yard bench rest ammo,

Yep. I shoot my CCI SV in my bolt and save the Mini Mags, Stingers and other HV for the 10/22 and Buckmark. That way everyone of my children are hapy, happy, happy.

I shoot mainly cci sv and blazer but geco shoots very well in my CZ and was only 3 cents/rd back when I bought it but that's been a while.

I use, buy, and own a lot of the Federal 38gr HV Red/Blue 500+ bulk packs, but I prefer CCI standard velocity in 90% of my rimfires.
FWIW, Blazer is made by both CCI and Federal since the company is one and the same now.

I snagged a few of the Federal 38gr BYOB buckets and it's the same ammo as in the Red/Blue packs just more. Those run well in everything I own.

CCI MiniMags and Blazer are my go to, but I buy Remington and Winchester when I find available at good price.

This Winchester runs great but gotta wonder . We dump all bulk 22 out and out of a thousand rds no matter the brand you’ll get a few not up to spec

Blazer and fed automatch are probably my two favorites. I will shoot about anything but will not buy any Remington branded rimfire.

My M&P 15-22 likes the CCI mini-mag CPRN.

Also, per a previous post some time back, the 50-round plastic box makes for a great early morning in-home cricket-varmint round. Fits the hand well; nice heft; and not too much penetration, but gets the job done.

Aguila Never once a bad round. Well over 10,000 in it alone here. Never again Remington or Winchester. I have a bunch of Federal and CCI also but not as much as Aguila.

Aguila Standard Velocity has been a cheap pleasant surprise. I've yet to find any issue with them in about 3 bricks worth of trying. The target pictured below was shot with a Savage Mk ll FVSR and Agulia SV at 100 yards. I believe a better scope would have made the 100 yard shooting better. The eggs are 1.5" x 1.75" in size.

As any .22 shooter will tell you, you need to buy some of everything and see what your gun likes best. Sometimes a particular gun will like one ammo over another regardless of price. You said bulk, but as you can see some interpret that differently as you can buy just about any of it in bulk. Generally speaking, the CCI products tend to be higher quality and most consistent, but also more expensive. On the other end, the Remington products, especially the Thunderbolts tend to be problematic. But, YMMV... Your gun could love them. And then there's everything else in between.
But, good luck finding anything at the moment. Some stores are ammo deserts right now.

CCI SV has done great. Federal Automatch is good. Norma Tac is OK. Like @georgel said, when it comes to .22’s every gun is different. My CZ loves SK Standard. RAR shoots CCI subsonic pretty good. Switch them up, not so good.

I prefer the Federal bulk and Automatch. It just seems more consistent and cleaner than Rem and Win bulk. Several mentions of the blazer, I will try some of that ASAP.

    Surrrre, blame the ammo! ;)

Seriously, I have always had good results with Aguila as far as being reliable. I did have a bunch though a couple years ago that made me think they forgot the recipe to "smokeless" powder. My Marlin Model 60 was smokin like a musket! Someone mentioned it to the RSO! She comes out, talks to me for a second and I pointed at the Aguila box. Nuff said! She had some too!

you know better than that. The bulk Eley is the white and silver bulk box ( I can’t remember without looking). The SK Lapua is the standard velocity in a red 500rd can. Both were fairly reasonable the last time I bought it, which was a few years ago.

I like the Federal stuff a bunch & it is the majority of my stash. Got a good bit of Auto Match & like it, but it gums up my Buckmark something fierce.

I've also got a goodly pile of the Winchester, but haven't shot any yet.

I like CCI's stuff, but don't really consider it "bulk". Need to set back a bit of SV & Green Tag.

I bought a pile of the "boutique" .22, back when I had a lovely CZ 452 American, but never shot any of it. Stupidly sold the rifle & ammo to fund some other must-have.

Never tried anything Remington & have no intentions of doing so.

Based on all the gun fire up here lately I’d say the mountain folk are rolling in ammo. Got out of my car earlier and first thing I heard in W. Jeff was gunfire.

Is this it? I don’t think I’ve shot any Eley, but would like to try some. That one was under “recreation” on their site.

I have both Eley Action (green and white) and Eley Contact. Both shoot great. The Action is insanely accurate in my daughters Cricket Precision.

Saw Action and Action plus. My question is who in the world writes the descriptions?

    • Reliable functioning in both single shot and rapid fire pistols and rifles
    • ELEY action plus is a .22LR round that delivers both strong kickback and accuracy
    • Extreme knock-down force

We all like different ammo (obviously)!

per the OP for bulk ammo

Federal, CCI , Remington will be the most common especially in the big box stores. Any match ammo suggested is not related.

BTW we love match ammo but isn’t considered bulk. Keep it real(cheap) y’all. Start a match 22 ammo thread to compare otherwise :(;):p

Yes, I keep some of the fancy stuff around but was gearing the question around zeroing in on one favored brand of bulk to stock up on for the sake of consistency

Aguila 36gr is cheap and runs well in all my 22s.

CCI Std if I'm doing something with the can.

I try to get the bulk pack stuff with copper jackets / wash / whatever. Even 'golden bullet' stuff is a lot cleaner in the gun that non-plated lead.

Depends on the gun (bolt? Semi? Pistol? Rifle?) barrel attachments (Suppressed or not?) , purpose ( plinking? , target shooting?) .

Generally some flavor of CCI or Federal. The only dud's I've ever gotten was with Winchester White Box (and there were a good number of them). Aguila is not bad either.

If I had to pick ONE for all purpose , it would be CCI Standard Velocity.

is it best to shoot plated bullets because of how dirty the lead can be? i'm new-ish to 22LR but i'm thinking it's the same theory as shooting lead bullets from a revolver. super dirty
I'll be ordering a bunch of Federal 36gr copper plated HP's this week, worth it?

You guys clean .22's? LRN, CPRN, whatever it doesn't matter. I just pull a boresnake through to make sure of no obstructions before shooting. Wipe out and very lightly oil the receiver afterwards. Comp shooters take fouling shots for a reason.......
