Best bulk .22lr

Doesn't look like anyone said they clean them, but trying to keep them running is good right?

Well, y'all were talking about how clean some ammo is. Nothing wrong with keeping them running of course. Do what works best for you!

I think most of the "dirty" from lead bullets is soot from the lube. And yes, cleaning a 22 after significant shooting (couple hundred rounds?) is a good idea.

Never considered the lube. Thanks for the info. I do come here to learn things. In fact after reading many of your posts and some others, I bought a buttload of CCI SV. Did you know a butt is an actual measurement? I didn't until recently!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butt_...andards were not always precisely adhered to".

Clean 400-500 rounds or when you think accuracy is getting worse.

Some guns (actions) will need cleaning if they start jamming after a while. I have seen cheap .22’s go thousands of rounds w/o a hiccup.

I guess I've been lucky so far. Marlin Model 60 and Ruger 10/22. Maybe it's the bore snake I run through that cleans them enough. And I do tidy up the receivers. I just don't break them down and fondle all the parts.

I will admit that I have a Henry Small Game Hunter that I clean after shooting, but it's rarely taken out, and I am trying to keep it as nice as possible. It was really for Mrs. She loved that cowboy stuff. SA's and Lever Actions. The other two are just what you described. Cheap .22's that run and run w/o hiccups. The Remlin was a bit cranky at first, but settled in after a few hundred rounds. The Ruger, perfect from the word go.

CCI Mini Mags, Blazer, and Federal. Tried some Winchester white box, but had like 40 misfires out of a brick of 500. However I did have decent luck with the black boxed Winchester, think it was call M22 or something. I usually stay with CCI though.

Yeah that WWB stuff is strange. It's the ONLY 22 I've ever had repeated misfires from a single brick. OTOH, I've used a bunch of their 9mm WWB with no problems.

That's good stuff and is liked by a lot of 22 shooters. I really like CCI. I liked them even better when my brother worked for their parent company (at the time) and I could get their stuff at employee cost. It made buying buttloads of SV an even better deal. I think you'll like it.

I wish I could find a but load of CCI SV. I'd buy a couple of them. I'm running low.

Reference cleaning........ it all depends on what one is shooting and what kind of accuracy one expects. One thing most shooters don't even know about is the cabon buildup in the chamber. It is not something that is easily removed and will certainly effect accuracy, especially if you are shooting aspirins at 25 and 50 yards. Do you have a carbon build up? Put a round in the chamber by hand and slide it forward. If you feel a bump, you've got a carbon ring.

You guys clean .22's? LRN, CPRN, whatever it doesn't matter. I just pull a boresnake through to make sure of no obstructions before shooting. Wipe out and very lightly oil the receiver afterwards. Comp shooters take fouling shots for a reason.......
Yeah, I clean my 22’s after a shooting session. I was just referring to how some ammo gums up the action, even in my revolvers. After 100 or so rounds in my SW 617, I have to push wildcats or Win down to seat them. Anything CCI is good, but I don’t consider that “bulk”.

Keep an eye out at your local Wally World. I haven’t seen any in months, but I lucked into 20 boxes this week. My favorite 22 ammo by far.

It varies by rifle and temperature. My CZ455 with a can installed runs the current lot I have at right about 1070 on average at 75 degrees and the ammo at about the same temperature. A shooting buddy of mine has a Ruger Precision Rimfire and I gave him some to test in his rifle and got him hooked on this ammo. His current lot runs a little faster at right about 1080 +/- a few fps in his rifle on average. We both get pretty consistent single digit (7-9) SD's running periodic groups across a Magnetospeed. YMMV.

What are your barrel lengths? I am shooting a CZ 455 with 20" barrel.

Mine is a CZ455 Tacticool SR, so 16.5" barrel plus the suppressor. The RPR's have an 18" barrel, IIRC. We shoot this ammo out to 500 yards and it holds up pretty well (with reasonable wind), making repeatable hits on a 20x30 steel IPSC.

I have a little over 10K of it right now...so I’ll hold off at that price. :D

thanks for the heads-up though...

Haha, yeah I think you good for a while. Don't blame you. I had like 300 rounds so I'm pretty stoked I scored some today. Now if only my can would be out of jail!!!

I like Remington golden bullet for best overall use. Aguila standard velocity is very accurate. Aguila HV has too many failures to extract. I won't buy any more.
