Who makes/sells a decent truck tool box for a reasonable price these days..?

I need a 69" box of good quality. Looking around $500 max. I like the gull-wing style or a low profile one piece. Probably in black...

Agri supply has some decent looking UWS boxes for $300-500 and some nice looking Cam-Lock ones for $400-700, but I have never owned either. Never even heard of Cam-Lock.

The ones at HD/Lowe's seemed like cheap junk compared to the ones I have bought before, and I don't want either of their names on my truck anyway.

I've had a couple of Adrian Steel ones in the past and they were good but the lid had a tendency to warp from flex over time.

I have what was the top of the line one ( then) from tractor supply thats 14 years old. Havent even had to put lift shocks on it. Iirc it was around $350 then. mine has a uws tag inside

Cam Lockers are nice boxes. I have one that I have used for 12 years on a couple of trucks. Would not hesitatate to buy another one.

I've had a Tractor Supply box on my Tundra for 14 years with no issues at all.

I have had the same UWS since 2004 on its 3rd truck. It has one bad shock, lid seal is dry rotted, and one of the stops on the latch linkage broke and UWS sent me a new one for free way out of warranty. Box still keeps my stuff dry and secure.

If you want to really get a nice box look at DEEZEE. Huge and heavy duty. Mines 15 years old and works like new. Also I can stand on top of it weighing 260 no problem. Nice reinforced lid.

Also locks on both sides is very handy

Uws makes good boxes and had one on previous truck that held up well. I bought one from northern tool for latest truck because i wanted to try a black slim line this time with 4 door and to pull a gooseneck trailer and it was a deal and wasnt sure if I would like it so didnt want to invest big bucks. . I like the size but its not the most robust, has held up well so far but has alot of flex in lid that makes latches be a little tricky. Keeps things dry but still not like the old uws but was also not near the price point. Its northern tool brand but thats a rebranded better built lower tier line.

I definitely don't want a flimsy lid. Been there done that. I like the UWS with the double layer foam filled lid for that reason...

Check TSC before you buy!

Yeah, I don't know why I didn't think about them. Agri Supply is my default for stuff like this if Lowe's/HD don't have anything.

Really have to put your hands on a toolbox to make a decision. Prices and quality are all over and not mutually exclusive/inclusive...

I believe that you need to set the tool box on the floor and walk on top of the tool box. I have seen a few images of you and like me, I think you are a "full figured girl. "

Also check and make sure the kids opens a full 90 degrees. Some of the cheaper ones don't and it can make getting larger items out a pain.

Tractor supply if you want decent quality, new and you can get it quickly.

If you have some time and don’t mind used check marketplace and Craig’s list. A lot of times you can find really high quality stuff for half the price.

Put a Ridgid job box in it unless that option is too big for your needs. Mine is raised maybe 16” to provide space for sliding boards under it and for more storage items. It can be painted the same color for very little without much work.

So I stopped by tractor supply and they had a black pull-handle box for $299 and 20% off... Can't pass up the deal...

It's a little lighter than I would like but it will serve for awhile at least...
