I am not committed to any one type of optic so I am looking for suggestions since most everything I am finding recommends acogs. Most of my optic experience revolves around red dots so I am looking for suggestions.

My limited knowledge of scars is small but I’ve heard they eat optics pretty hard.

I know the 17s are brutal on them for sure. The 16s makes it where they have a chance

Acog sits on top of mine. It has the clearest glass of all my scopes. Steiner is my second favorite.

Whatever fits on your AR. Go ahead and install it on AR. Sell scar. Profit.

I keeed I keeeed.

I have an acog that I was trying to sell. Maybe I’ll give it a shot.
Elcan Specter would be my top choice.
Holy crap! I just looked up the cost of this bad boy. I’ll have to pass.

Oh it’s too late now. I’ve already sent the barrel off to be chopped and sent in my form 1. I am in too deep right now. :)

Yeah the Elcan Specter are stupid priced but are damn near bomb proof. I have no idea how hard a SCAR 16s is on optics, I know that the 17s sucks for them. I would agree with @Combat Diver because of the warrantee if nothing else.

Thanks all! @Combat Diver good to know what’s being used in the field. Yes, scar 16s are more on the rare side so from what I’ve read they don’t eat optics like the big brother.

Razor has that nice warranty. The glass is killer. On 1X it’s as fast as a dot, imo. Or close enough.

Optic choice depends on what type of shooting / what ranges ?
Low powered variable optics are generally one of the best all around choices. A variable optic gives that starts at 1x will give you the best close quarters option , while 6X or at will allow you to extend the range. Many of the previously accepted Military red dots require a magnifier thats going to add weight cost and size. The military has caught on and is switching to this style. Look at any rifles used in 3 gun - they compete at close range out to extended ranges
Buy one with good glass and a warranty - Vortex Razor 1-6X is a great option

Ive spent a good amount lately so I'm thinking instead of selling the ACOG I have I will just keep it and put it on this rifle. As I started looking at the options that I would buy I am already at the price of the used ACOG I was selling. Might as well put it use.

I just purchased a Sig Sauer Bravo 3, of my AR. The version I got is already set up for 5.56 and 7.62. I am going to zero it this weekend and see how it works out. I really wanted the Bravo 5 but they are on a 6 to 8 month backorder.

I am replacing my EOTech XPS with this battlesight.

I think one of the razor 1-10 optics would be nice on about any gun. I have a razor 1-6 and really like it. I just didn’t have the monies for the 1-10. 😔

So I ended up going with the ACOG I already had. I think it works for what I am using it for. The only issue is more my complaint.

I ran the powered ACOG on the 308 first then switched to this to sight it in. The power acog gets you spoiled.

I am going to install a Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10 x 24 on my mk17. Swampfox has a 50,000 round guarantee.

From what I have read, it is around 1500 rounds where the optics start to fail on MK17

I did purchase a kingslayer serveral months ago (elevation turret locked up) I sent it in and they replaced it within 30 days
